The amazing stat guy! - yvonne - 11-11-2011

Today at the Council, Todd Husak asked TERRY for stats regarding the team record before the 2009 gam and after.

Yeah, he asked me, but I didn't have the number. I have it now, though.

Todd's point was that Stanford's 2007 "Greatest Upset Ever" over U.S.C. was the turning point for the program. Here's the stat Todd was looking for:

Stanford’s record in the 55 games before the 2007 U.S.C. upset – 16-39  (.291)
Stanford’s record in the 55 games since the 2007 U.S.C. upset – 37-18  (.673)

Right. 2007.  See, I can't even remember what year it was!

I remember after that game noting here that with some luck that game could pay dividends for years, and that there were probably recruits that watched the game that will be far more inclined to elect Stanford.  While I hoped Stanford might enjoy some above .500 seasons in the four or five years after that win, I had no idea that 2010 & 2011 could be THIS good.

how many more games do we need to win to cross .500 for the whole span?

Re: The amazing stat guy! - TreeFitty - 11-11-2011

Figured it out.

prior 62 games: 26 games under .500
55 games since: 19 games above .500

we'd need to win 7 more games in a row to get to .500 over that stat's span. jeez.
