Though their programs bear no resemblance to one another, if Shaw and Swinney are still friends, they are likely aligned on this:

Lane Kiffin saying kids want to go where they are paid most. If this is the case now, it was the case before players could earn money - blessed by the NCAA - based on playing their sport.
I can see a lot of college coaches quitting because this system is just rotten to the core. Paying money for services is fine, but the way schools still don't have to pay anything to the players who are creating the revenue opportunities for the schools, the actual education component is de-emphasized more and more in pursuit of immediate money. These schools are gonna have to face a serious reckoning soon. No competitive enterprise can survive and thrive when there are so few regulations controlling behavior and it becomes a winner take all endeavor.

I think it's perspectives like this that help create the problem by equating an education and four years of room and board with nothing. Talk about de-emphasizing the education component. . . .

Kiffin's statement in red above was what he became accustom to when he was HC for the condoms and is now the norm at most all schools in the SEC with the exception of Vandy.
