Nice find. It's worth reading just for this line alone:

Oklahoma wunderkind Lincoln Riley fled Norman for the University of Southern California, which turns out to have a football team, in addition to celebrity children’s rowing.

Another good line:

Kelly’s move to LSU was not official before speculation began as to whether or not Meyer, currently the coach of the semipro Jacksonville Jaguars, would be courted by the Irish.

How can Teejers possibly be ratings system dinged for this post? He's only posting from the article.

Unbelievable.

A better question:  why do you care?  Who knows . . . maybe I'm dinging myself in a secret plot to overthrow the Cardboard!

Me? I don't GAS but I don't like to see a poster carpet bomb someone else. And on a really meaningless fan site where you are supposed to enjoy yourself and not succumb to pettiness. It destroyed Thunderdome.

Teejers must have really po'd that poster (who BTW is an ex-player and was IMHO one of Stanford's best at his position).  Teejers are you the frog or the scorpion in this fable, LOL?

T-dome was the perfect example of "give an inch, take a mile."  It was created just so that some of the more "expressive" posters on TOS could have their own playpen, and it just morphed into a self-destructive swamp.

Don't know about frog or scorpion - is that the story of the frog giving a ride to a scorpion who pinches him because "that's what scorpions do" - or am I mistaking that fable?

I make it a policy* not to criticize the kids wearing the uniform and playing the game for my alma mater.  (I fully understand and often agree with criticisms of players I read on fan boards - and it certainly makes for a more lively and interesting discussion when those evaluations are in play.  So I have no problem at all with those who regularly comment on individual competitors - and that is bolstered by the reality that Stanford fans are very civil and relatively sensitive when it comes to such critiques).  The paid adults - coaches and administrators, otoh - are fair game.

Given that, and given that most of my criticism in these parts has been directed at the Head Coach, I can only assume that the former player who dings me is a big Shaw supporter.  Whatever.  Free country.  Ding away!

Can't comment on T-dome.  Was never a poster there, and only did fly-by viewings a few times.

*  It's a policy, but I doubt ironclad.  I'm sure you can scour my posts over the years here and on TOS and find examples where I criticize a particular player in a particular game.  But generally speaking, I try to avoid those kind of specifics.  The kids aren't paid and I'm sure are trying their best.  Still, maybe I was critical of "one of Stanford's best at his position," and maybe he has long memory!

Yeah, just my attempt at a bad joke --- despite his promise, scorpion stings frog and they both drown in the river.  "Why?" asks frog on the way down.  Scorpion shrugs, "it's just my nature."

The aforementioned poster played long before there was an internet.

Unbelievable.

In the past, repeated "strategic" votes resulted in removing the up or down votes and suspending the poster's reputation privileges. However, I think the rep system has outlived its usefulness. The moderation crew has voted to retire it.
