Outlook/Prediction:
***************
WSU's confidence is currently high after 4 straight 3-set victories on the road,
including at #17 Oregon last week.
WSU's offense is very diversified, as evidenced by the even distribution of their individual kills/set.
Therefore, Stanford cannot just focus on stopping WSU's primary hitter TIMMER.
However, Stanford can really take advantage of their superior height and blocking.
They should definitely exploit TUSA's 5'8 height at the net and that JEHLAROVA
is WSU's only imposing blocking threat (refer to individual blocks/set stats above).
Stanford should study how USC dominated WSU at WSU a few weeks ago.
If Stanford is to win this match, they have to do it in 4 sets.
And I want them to win this match, so I predict Stanford winning 3-1.

Let's go Card. 6:00 pm tonight; PAC-12 Bay Area. I wanted to bump this up from the second page so another thread wasn't started.
Didn't realize WSU has a 5'8" OH.
Would really like Hambly to use Xu as a serving sub and then set. When Miner is in the front row and Baird is in the back row, Stanford usually ends up with limited offensive options due to inconsistent passing.

Yes! Win this, ladies, partly to avenge Stanford MFB's loss to WSU last weekend.....
In WSU's 1-3 home loss to USC a few weeks ago, both of WSU's OHs TIMMER and TUSA hit .160 as USC outhit (54 kills @ .266 vs. 52 kills @ .190), outblocked (11-9) and outdug (58-55) them.
In WSU's 2-3 home loss to UCLA during that same weekend, WSU outblocked UCLA (10-5), but UCLA outhit (71 kills @ .253 vs. 63 kills @ .215) and outdug them (71-63) and, again, WSU's OHs hit poorly, as primary hitter TIMMER was 18-9-56 for .161 while the 5'8 TUSA was 6-7-30 for -.033.
I guess Stanford coach HAMBLY can probably take something useful from those results.

Rats. WSU takes the first set 28-26.
BC
Second set is all Stanford so far; Stanford is up 19-8 and and hitting .619 (not a typo) with 14 kills and 1 error in 21 attempts. Wish we could have applied a couple of those to our last set.
BC
Stanford takes the second 25-15, and all is right in the universe. Gotta keep the momentum up.

Oh, well! I said that for Stanford to win this match, they have to win in 4 sets.
They had their chances in Set 1, and they were on their way with a 21-16 lead in Set 3.
It's the start of Set 4, and Stanford is leading 7-4. Let's see if they can prove me wrong, and eke out a 5-set win.

I turned off my TV. I can't watch this. In all the years I've been following Cardinal volleyball I've never seen a team that makes so many unforced errors. It's one step forward, one step backward. I just don't see any net progress through the season in reducing unforced errors.

We could very well score more points than WSU tonight and lose the match.

Another WSU run when we have them on the ropes in the fourth set. Stanford is up 21-20, but we are really struggling on serve receive.
