WSoc - UNC Game -

Following game, which just started, on Live Stats. (Streaming on ACCNX, which I can't get.)
Per Live Stats, Ryan Campbell started the game but was substituted for after 5 minutes by Katie Meyer??!! Anyone able to stream the game and comment on why the substitution?
Kitahata just scored, 11 minutes in. We lead 1-0.

it looked like a late equipment check. i think wesley was able to take off her earring? in time but they were working on Meyer's ear as the game started, so i assume also an earring issue?

Maybe trying to psych out the UNC team, who probably still have nightmares of their 2019 college cup final.

UNC looks like the better team right now. Score tied 1-1. Stanford is not playing like they want to win. Second half shots UNC 7 -- Stanford 1.

I thought once a player subbed out, they couldn’t sub back in. Is that no longer the rule, or is the scoreboard wrong".?

We go to overtime. Cardinal had some really good chances to score in the last few minutes of regulation. UNC players seem to have better skills. But, we're still in it.
We lose in OT. UNC is just a tad better at this point in the season.

The North Carolina trip went as I expected: we were competitive but didn't have quite enough to win or tie against these two teams. By the end of the season, if we improve as much as I think we will, we should have a decent chance of beating them. Would be nice to pin a loss on Santa Clara in 2 weeks.

#10 Stanford is 3-2 as it enters a stretch of three straight games versus Jesuit opponents. Stanford has USF (2-1-1), Loyola Marymount (0-6) and #9 Santa Clara (3-1-2, just beat #9 Va Tech and lost to #3 VA in Virginia). SCU, for its part, will have played #4 UCLA and Cal (again) before they play Stanford. That game is next Sunday at 5 p.m. at Stanford.

Had a chance to watch the game live, really it one of those games that reminds you what college sports is all about.
Teams left it all out on the field and in the end NC probably deserved it just a tad more, but we could have equally likely walked away with it.
In the first 20 to 25 minutes Stanford just dominated with a goal to show for it, the rest of the half was even IMO.
NC came out with a vengeance early in the second half, also with a goal to show for it but could have been more.
Stanford was in my view the better team in
the last 10-15 of regulation with some clear chances that could have easily gone in.
Hell of a game, I'll be watching them the rest of the way

Thanks for the 1st hand report. I understand that Kennedy Wesley did not finish the game due to injury. Could you tell what happened? Her presence on the back line may have made a difference in the end.

Nothing I could tell, there wasn’t an obvious injury and I thought Wesley was playing well. It was really hot so I thought they were just rotating.
I was surprised to see the left winger (I believe it was #20, Kitahata) getting moved to left back and replacing Wesley because she was playing really well and creating all sorts of problems for UNC. I think we might have lost something on attack when we moved her back, but I didn’t notice a drop off on defense. Having said that, the winning goal came on a corner given up on that side, so who knows. UNC did seem to have more stamina at that point so that may have been a factor.
