12-0 still on the table...

Kansas State 35    Stanford 28

Only because it is the first game and it is on the road.   Often when a team goes on the road the first game of the season against a fairly good opponent unexpected stuff happens no matter how much preparation.

I'm hoping for more of an outcome like KSU's first game of last season when Arkansas State visited and beat them 35-31....

I have the shame so far, but I have no confidence in our defense, and our offense will feature a QB with at most two starts.  Plus we are playing a morning game in central time.  All of which is a recipe for a tough outing for Stanford.

I hope I'm wrong, but I have low confidence in our QB(s) and our defense

Are they traveling Thursday or Friday (saving costs)?

Really stupid to bow to TV and play a 9am PDT game.

Stanford 27
Kansas State 24

Not as optimistic as I'd like to be at this juncture:

KSU 31
Stanford 21

Stanford will smoke these guys: 31-10

Ground and pound; play keep-away; win game.

RE: 2021 Stanford at Kansas State Prediction Thread - BigEasyCard - 08-31-2021

Stanford 27

Kansas State 24

Geaux Cardinal!

RE: 2021 Stanford at Kansas State Prediction Thread - pcgoode - 08-31-2021

Ground and pound Stanford offense suffocates KSU. 27-21 for the win.

Let's assume that this group has the best crowd-sourced insight into Stanford football and represents the true wisdom of the crowds. Let's also assume that we also have a home bias that we grapple with. Armed with that information and the predictions we make, what is an accurate representation of our home bias? Right now we are calling this one just about a Stanford -1 game or a tossup. With a current line of KSU -2.5, are we a 3.5 - 4.0 point home bias crowd? Is that consistent over the course of a season or from year to year? Do you think our home bias shrinks after a loss or an ugly game? Does it grow and sometimes put us way out on a limb after a good game or two in a row? Curious to hear what others think. I know we *always* overreact to the last data point.

I know the data point that I'm currently overreacting to is the 9:00 a.m. start time.  Ugh.  Not conducive to our best efforts, particularly coupled with the Friday departure.

Both Sagarin and ESPN's FPI favor Stanford.  Just say'n.

well truth be told I have never picked Stanford to lose in the "Cardboard predict a score" threads, if others are similar (looking at you Bobk) that's going to skew the results.....

RE: 2021 Stanford at Kansas State Prediction Thread - Papa John - 08-31-2021

Back when Stanford football was really good, wasn't there a Cardboarder who picked Stanford to lose every game, regardless of the opponent? I think it was to appease the woofing gods.
