I've just recently started to stream some WLX games. Can someone knowledgeable explain these aspects to me:
(1) Mid-field face-off after each score. Why is there a mid-field face-off after each score? If a team has a superior draw specialist , it can keep controlling the ball and adding to its scoring chances, as we seemed to do when we built our early lead. It's as if basketball had a center court jump after each basket and one team had Wilt Chamberlain as its center. Wouldn't it be better for competitive balance to simply let the scored-upon team have the ball and re-start play?
(2) Mid-field play. There is a very large mid-field, but so little of the action takes place there. A team is almost always able to bring the ball up from its defensive zone to its offensive zone, but by then the other team's defense is set up. Compare with soccer and football, where strong mid-field defense can prevent the other team from driving to its offensive zone (penalty area in soccer, red zone in football) or, conversely, creative mid-field offense can lead to long passes slicing open a defense. From what I could see, the WLX game action wouldn't look much different if the mid-field were shorter.

Yes, and they went away from that for good reason.
