Stanford Baseball - BobK - 03-27-2021

Beat Fresno State 12-4

RE: Stanford Baseball - Hurlburt88 - 03-28-2021

I am enjoying this team!

RE: Stanford Baseball - Madera86 - 03-28-2021

11-8 win today. I guess we're going to club everyone to death. I'm ok with that, as long as it keeps ending in the death part. And it certainly makes for exciting games. Not our finest game on the mound or on defense, though. We blew leads of 4-0 and 7-4 and committed 3 errors, but we still came back.

Here's hoping Williams and Palisch are back soon. Any word on Cody Jensen?

Tawa with 2 HRs and 6 RBIs
Stanford’s 13-3. That’s great
Sacramento State is next Monday then League play starts at Washington State this weekend.
Just a great start to the season

Pac-12 play continues on Thursday. 2-1 versus Utah last weekend

Watching Oregon women play so poorly hurts my posting
Thanks for the corrections.

RE: Stanford Baseball - CTcard - 03-28-2021

Any idea what is up with Brendan Beck?

His only appearance this weekend was a single inning of relief today - just getting rest?

Card plays at WAZZU on Thursday in Pac-12 play. Trying to allow starting pitchers six days of rest. So, relief outing only this week. He's fine.

Hope we see Williams and Palisch this weekend. The weather in Pullman looks decent by the weekend

Lots of hitting good pitching as Stanford wins 18-3

I was wondering out loud why the heck Gargus was trying to steal second in the third inning with no one out and our best hitter at the plate. He got caught and that probably cost us at least one run. But then that's why I'm a fan and not a coach. ;)

Besides the offensive fireworks, I was happy to see Beck go eight innings and O'Rourke pitch a 1-2-3 inning in relief.

Don't call it a comeback, but we scored three in the top of the ninth to beat WSU 7-5.  We play again tomorrow.

8-9, Top of the 8th. With this team, no lead is safe. Including our own.

9-9 now, still top of the 8th, no one out.

Sigh. We lose, 10-9 in 10 innings. We blew an 8-3 lead and left 20 runners on base.

Lost in 10

As Dave Esqueur stated in the in-game interview, the ceiling of this team will be determined by how quickly the freshmen pitchers improve and how well the coaches can re-integrate Williams and Palisch into the staff. While we left too many runners on base, the issue was really our pitching. Indeed, if the improvements to our pitching that coach outlined do happen in a meaningful way, I gotta think this is a legit top-15 or perhaps even top-10 club.
