WSB -- STAN 8 SCU 0 - BostonCard - 02-10-2021

Picked 6 (out of 9) in the conference.  Not sure if this is a sign of how competitive Pac-12 SB is, or how hard it will be to come back from the "dark period".

4 Pac 12 schools are picked in the top 10 nationally. Oregon around 15.

Add to that we are the last to start practice. By months.

RE: Softball - Mick - 02-11-2021

I really hope that Stanford performs better than the #6 preseason prediction indicates.  When Coach Rittman was here, Stanford had 18 consecutive winning seasons and went to 16 consecutive NCAA appearances, won the Pac-12, and went to the College World Series twice.  After he left Stanford, as associate head coach at Kansas, they went from 34-23 to 40-15, improving from 1-2 in postseason to 2-2.  He took over Clemson's program, which had its first year ever as an NCAA program, and though they were predicted to finish 10th in league, they went 19-8, 5-1 in league before COVID shut down the program, winning 11 of their final 12 games.

Coach Allister headlined Rittman's 2001 and 2004 teams, both of which went to the College World Series.  I know Coach Allister is accomplished.  Even though they're picked sixth, I'm hopeful that their 22-4 record last year against weak competition prior to the Pac-12 season will be indicative of their capability.

RE: Softball - BobK - 02-11-2021

Stanford may well have their best pitching depth ever. Yes ever. Now will one be a Sorenson like we shall see

Plus 4 grad students 3 of whom already 4 year starters granted the free season.
Plus another starter the 2019 season missing last season with an ACL

Btw preseason by a site has Stanford in the NCAAs

RE: Softball - martyup - 02-21-2021

All right now!

RE: Softball - Mick - 02-21-2021

Stanford plays Santa Clara today at 1 p.m.  Given that SCU was 16-34 two years ago, and 8-16 last year, I'm guessing they won't put up much of a fight.  SCU had no pitching to speak of last year with a 5.41 ERA.  Hit .285, OPS of .711.

RE: Softball - BobK - 02-21-2021

Plus Stanford has one of Santa Clara’s best players. As a grad transfer

RE: Softball - martyup - 02-21-2021

We have taken a 5 run lead at the top of the 5th.

Watch here: https://pac-12.com/live/stanford-university

And we win on the runs rule 8-0 in the 6th.  Great job by our team!

RE: WSB -- STAN 8 SCU 0 - BobK - 02-21-2021

5th inning but mercy rule yes.
Vawter with her 2nd win

RE: WSB -- STAN 8 SCU 0 - martyup - 02-21-2021

Crazy we had the bases loaded with all pinch runners and a pinch hitter at the plate.
