Not listed on the depth chart for U$C. We really need him.

According to Shaw, Howell could have played in a worst-case scenario.
"We want to be smart and make sure we have him down the stretch."
Sounds to me like he
could play against SC. More optimistic for Oregon.

My guess is that we'll see how Carrier and co do against Woods/Barkley in the first few series. If we aren't stopping them then I would not be surprised to see Howell in there. I'm hoping he can sit out the entire game and heal. We will need him even more against the Ducks!

Is the $C alumni game this week, too?

Shaw said today that Howell won't play against SC, according to Kyle Bonagura.

My miss, CowboyIndian! Carrington #5 at Safety. Let's hope we don't need Howell for this one. The younger DBs had some nice experience to improve upon last Saturday, but we were missing both Skov and Delano on a number of plays.Â

Yes, there were some holes blown open in our lines that were not filled by linebackers. I saw folks explaining this was due to our attacking scheme and partially agree. (And those who commented know way more about defensive backfield play than I do.)
Still, Saturday saw the occasional play where UW's blocking scheme execution looked just as it does on an O-Line blocking assignment chart. Picture perfect - Too picture perfect, with all the X's sealing the O's and all the lanes open as planned. It's hard to imagine Skov or Howell getting moved out of the way by single team blocks or missing some of those tackles.
I look forward to seeing our back-ups get meaningful reps and improving but I'm also looking forward to watching Howell blow-up a runner so he doesn't hit the gap quite so hard the next time through!
