World Series ring trivia - Phogge - 12-28-2020

Which person has won the most WS rings? What HS did he attend?

Which player has won the most WS rings? What MLB player did he grow up with?

high school:  Galileo or SI (two of Phogge's go to spots)

Yogi is player answer.  not sure of overall player/coach.

Ok, I looked up the answer to the first part. Frank Crosetti won 17 rings as Yankee player and coach. I had not known that!

Bobbbbbb's Rule #1: No lookie up. LOL.

Crosetti lived out his life in a single story ranch house in the San Joaquin Valley.

Went to Mission High School in the City. Baseball Register had him at Mission Hs in Mission San Jose. I contacted them and tried to explain the difference. Same mistake for Gus Triandos, another Mission grad who also signed with the Yanks and because of Berra, Elston Howard and Johnny Blanchard was traded to the Browns and went on to become an All Star with the Orioles. Yanks also signed Jackie Jensen out of Cal. A future MVP with the Red Sox he was traded to the Senators because of Mantle, Bauer and Woodling owning the outfield in the Bronx.

Yeah, I should have let you and maybe others guessed for a while. Or looked it up and then kept to myself. My resistance is low right now.

I was way too slow Spiny . Lol

Spiny... I don't think we have enough resistance to thwart an invasion of Ewoks.

Crosetti's obit has him attending Lowell High School.  others news pieces have him at Santa Clara Prep.

RE: World Series ring trivia - Phogge - 12-29-2020

A few years ago Baseball Reference had him going to Mission High in Mission San Jose. Now it says SC Prep. I was told at a SF Oltimers meeting that he went to Mission. He grew up in North Beach which was Galileo territory. It’s possible that he transferred to Lowell and graduated from there. I’ll check it out.

OK Slide here you go. The answer is that Crosetti never graduated from high school. Born in North Beach the family settled in Los Gatos because of health reasons. They moved back to North Beach and somehow Crosetti ended up at Lowell which was located a block from the GGP Panhandle. He may have attended Galileo or Mission before. He played sandlot ball and at 16 he dropped out of Lowell. Most of the guys who knew him at our Oldtimer dinners are gone. I shot an interview with him late in life and we talked about semipro ball in The City. We must have discussed high schools but I don’t remember.

thanks.  the bouncing around was what I'd read too up until he was 16 and took off for semi-pro ball in Butte, MT.  Butte, really?  Crosetti sounds like he had quite a life in and around baseball.
