The "Pacific" name carries a lot of history with it. The Pacific Coast Conference goes back to 1915, and lasted until 1959. Its successor was known for a few years as the Athletic Association of Western Universities, but in mid-1960s, it was renamed the Pacific 8, then the Pacific 10 in 1978. So the "Pacific" name has been used for a long time. I don\'t think the conference will want to flush 95 years of history down the drain. I think "Pacific" will be retained in the name.
"Pacific 16" seems like a misnomer if there are members in Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. But the fact that it\'s a misnomer isn\'t an insurmountable obstacle, as the 11-member Big 10 has proved.
If not Pac 16, then maybe "Pacific Southwest" or "Pacific West"?

I like The Pack
It retains the "pac" name, it implies having a lot of members, and there\'s an aggressive wolf connotation to it. Also, doesn\'t have to change if more members are brought in.
Then you can have PackWest and PackEast for the different divisions.
