Hope Hicks Tests Positive - dabigv13 - 10-01-2020

Has been maskless with other senior Trump staff including Trump within the past few days. Apparently symptomatic today. Is she a spreader or no?

RE: Hope Hicks Tests Positive - chrisk - 10-01-2020

She was on Air Force One with the President the last 2 days.

Trump still plans to hold a rally this weekend in Wisconsin, which is a current hotbed of COVID, setting new records for daily number of cases.

RE: Hope Hicks Tests Positive - dabigv13 - 10-01-2020

If Trump is infected, he likely would not test positive for several days. He would likely be infectious for a day or two before he does test positive.

RE: Hope Hicks Tests Positive - Griffins78 - 10-01-2020

Who is responsible for contact tracing? From whom did she contract the virus? If within the WH it could be more widespread.

If he tests positive will they lie? Pretty sure he already has received results since she knew yesterday. If he was negative I think he would say so.

RE: Hope Hicks Tests Positive - dabigv13 - 10-01-2020

Trump in his interview with Hannity seemed to blame the police officers and "airmen" who are always coming up to him, and his staff, I guess was the implication?

Too bad those folks weren't wearing masks.  If he and his staff were all wearing masks this might be limited.

Based on the experiences in team sports it is very hard to believe a team full of mask-free people would not have a big outbreak.   Now will be a good time for health care officials to remind everyone that this virus is serious.

A lot of other heads of state and US Governors have tested positive for COVID19 while taking far greater precautions.   This was more or less inevitable given the Trump team's view on sensible precautions.

Many of the people likely pre-symptomatic from the Trump campaign were also mask-free at the first debate despite the Cleveland Clinic requirement that everyone wear masks.   So it is possible a number of people in both campaigns will test positive soon.

RE: Hope Hicks Tests Positive - BostonCard - 10-01-2020

Keep in mind that anyone who comes in contact with Trump is tested daily.  It would be highly unlikely for Hicks to test positive (for the first time) yesterday, infect the President, and for the President to already have a positive test.  Remember, the incubation period is 3 - 14 days.

Lots of caveats, of course (Hicks was a false negative before yesterday, a third person infected both Trump and Hicks some time before that, etc.), but I think it's unlikely that the President is sitting on a positive test.

They better hope that they did not spread it to Barrett. She could spread it to all of the Republican Senators.

What will quarantine mean for Trump? He has rallies scheduled, including 2 in Wisconsin Saturday (in Green Bay and originally La Crosse, now moved to Janesville, Paul Ryan's home town).

Trump said he has been tested, but the results have not been released. Does that mean his rapid test was positive and they are waiting on the PCR?

The GOP seems to be feverishly re-writing the book on how those who mess with Bulls get the horns.

I'm sure Dr. Atlas is happy at the prospect of the POTUS having Covid. Heard immunity, right?

RE: Hope Hicks Tests Positive - dabigv13 - 10-01-2020

Who gave it to Hicks matters. If it wasn't a random airman, but some other member of the staff that perhaps didn't throw a positive antigen test (most but not all will, for host of possible reasons), the fox could be well into the hen house now.

Should be an interesting next few news days huh?

Is that a way to prevent hearing loss?

Hours, I meant hours! That article in the NYT about the extreme precautions Putin takes yesterday sure was timely.

Genuinely, I hope all recover. This is truly a dangerous time for the country, our executive branch laid low now is not what it needs.

He wasn't sitting on the news for very long.   Trump tweeted that he has tested positive.   Hope he has no long term issues but more importantly starts taking this more seriously from a health standpoint.

RE: Hope Hicks Tests Positive - BostonCard - 10-01-2020

Yeah, that's why I put the caveats in.  Given the rapid succession of positives, it seems at least as likely that both Trump and Hicks were infected by a third person several days ago.

The White House hosted the Barrrets on Saturday. I assume they came from South Bend, which has been having a significant upturn in cases in the last 2 weeks. The South Bend area has its highest number of hospitalizations in over 5 months. With 7 kids, there are a lot of potential disease carriers who might not be symptomatic.

It is not a bad theory at all.

I would hope someone is testing everyone in the Barrett team right now as her children were likely scheduled to see many top Republican officials over the next few weeks.   I would think many GOP officials running for office would want photo ops with the Barrett family as seating conservative judges and justices has absolutely been one of the top achievements of the last few years.

That photo op would be nice to have on a website and a flyer, but not if it comes with a risk of COVID for the candidate.

In any event someone at that Barrett event was probably an asymptomatic carrier.   For the GOP convention events at the WH they opted not to test everyone, so very easy to imagine they didn't test everyone at the Barrett presser.

Do you know what those numbers are?  And how it compares to five months ago?  And how that number affects hospital capacity?

Those would all be very interesting numbers to have/know.  The one thing I don't like about the ND Dashboard is that it does not report on hospitalizations in the area.  That would be beneficial info to have to help interpret and digest the ND Dashboard (which has high transparency, as far as it goes).  BTW, I once tried to look for county information on hospitals where ND is located but didn't see anything like the SCC dashboard.
