Which Pac-12 game are you most interested in this week? -

It's the bye week, but will you still be watching Pac-12 football?

The Washington game, because games between PAC-12 North most affect the standings picture for Stanford.

Need someone from the Pac12 to beat someone from another conference.
I also am more focused on THE other other OSU giving a nice goodbye to A&M.

ASU vs. USC. The insanity of this particular ASU team makes it one of the most compelling teams in all the land. They're like the
Face/Off or
Con Air of teams--some weird mix of good, bad and insane.
Watching Robert Woods of USC is always a treat.

My vote was for Oregon @ Arizona, but after reading TreeFitty's post, I think I will be watching the 59er game more intently.

Without upsetting the gods of woofing, the number one priority for the team should be to win the North. To do that, we need to have a better record than Oregon. Therefore, any game in which Oregon is at risk is immediately more interesting than all others. Does anyone here really believe UW or Cal can win the North? I think they can both do some damage, and upset any team, but neither is consistent enough to contend. I think Arizona could be a dangerous opponent to Oregon. Criner should be back to full speed. Oregon doesn't have as strong a defense as Stanford. It could be a real shoot out. I think Oregon wins, but the upset potential, in Tuscon, is definitely there.
However, I think USC vs. ASU will be the most interesting game of the week. It's the only game featuring two teams that both have the talent to win their division.

You do realize that paying lip service doesn't placate the woofing gods, right?
Other than that, I agree with your post.

I don't think saying something is a priority constitutes woofing. Now, if he had said, "We're going to win the North," or "Nobody can stop us from winning the North," that would be a different matter. However, singling out Oregon as a team we must beat at least borders on woofing. We must beat the next team on our schedule and must finish with a better divisional record than all other teams in the division.

Call me crazy, but I do think that the B.ears have a chance to win the North. They have an unfortunate break in their schedule which means that they have to play both Oregon and Stanford on the road, but T.edford + Michalczik is a formidable braintrust. Their schedule is definitely more brutal than ours (Utah & ASU + bonus Colorado), but losing those games won't have any impact on P12-N race. Other than Auburn, they gave Oregon their toughest match last year, and their achilles heel: U$C also can't affect their ability to represent the North.

I thought a team's Pac12 record is what decided their rank in their division. If you go 5-0 against your division foes and 0-4 with non-division (combined 5-4 Pac12 record), does that mean you represent your division, even if there is another team in the division that is 4-1 and 4-0 (combined 8-1 record)? That seems kind of crazy to me. I would hope that all Pac12 games matter, even beyond being a tie breaker in the off chance there is a 3-way tie at the top of a division where all teams split.
Them B.ears are better than advertised preseason, but I expect the offensive inconsistency to start to bite them in the arse starting this weekend.

Oops -- my bad. I guess I should've checked the rules before I made all kinds of assumptions. Given this new light, I would like to switch my vote from UCB/UW to the UO/AZ game.
It's GOT to be the Schadenfreude Special - Redrum - 09-24-2011
Kal vs. Washington  One loss possibility will be instructive, significant for the Pac North and emotionally satisfying. The other loss possibility would be instructive, significant for the Pac North and --depending on how one feels about Sarkisian-- emotionally satisfying.  The only guaranteed NON loser is Stanford. Gotta go for the Schadenfreude.

If you're into schadenfreude, the continuing "MEH" of Notre Dame has to be entertaining.
What's great is the variety. Under Weis, they had good QB play more often than not combined with fantastic wideouts. YOu asked: geez, what if they had a defense? Well, now they've got a serviceable defense...and no QB. Someone has a sense of humor, somewhere.

Cal scores on a 90-yard pass-and-amble to Keenan Allen. Great effort from Allen, but more a poor defensive effort from UW. I'm sensing a sacrificial offering from Sarkisian of Nick Holt's head in the future...

No schadenfreude so far today.

Is Maynard as good as he looks, or is it just that Washington's defense is not very good?

Haven't seen the second half at all, but more the latter than the former, I think. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Luck, but it seems he locates a number of passes that are just off--maybe the receiver makes the catch but is blown up or can't get YAC.

Yuck. I turned on the kal game just in time to see an ambulance on the field carting off a Washington player. :( :( :( :( :(

Oddly, Notre Dame boards are more schadenfreudey than Cal boards. Ah, Notre Dame.
Meanwhile, erstwhile Stanford commit Amir Carlisle just had an...
interesting fumble for 'SC. You don't know what you're missing, guys!
