Week 2 Predictions Thread - george - 09-01-2019

So the board formatting is a bit wonky and may require some work, but don't let that stop you from posting a prediction!

RE: Week 2 Predictions Thread - BostonCard - 09-02-2019

Well, the line opened at even money, but has since shifted to favor USC by 3. Over/under has also been moving upwards, currently it sits at 45.5, which would predict a 24 - 21 SC victory (technically a 24.25 - 21.25). I don't think that's unreasonable; while our defense did pretty well against Northwestern, and USC is going to be starting a back-up QB, they still have a lot more weapons than the Wildcats.

Looking forward to the T.Vaughns VS Paulson-ator Adebo-raptor matchup all night long.
Both will be playing in the NFL, and Scouts are flagging tape on this game.

On the flip side, USC Secondary is young and vulnerable.
Even with Mills, if KJ sits, I think we can throw for more yardage.
Our CBs are better than theirs.

Don't forget to account for conservative playcalling at some point...

Like...when we're up by 10 in the 4Q.

Key will be Stanford’s already revamped o-line against a very good SC front 7. If the line can protect Mills, Stanford has. Great shot.

At the cost of outing myself as the worst predictor from week 1, is the math working properly for the rankings?

https://thecardboard.org/board/predictions.php?action=predictions_select_game&game_id=401112245&submit=See+game+results

At the bottom of the table it looks like only cardcrimson and I picked NW to win the game, and my error score is higher, so I should be in last place instead of 2nd to last.

Am I understanding it correctly?

RE: Week 2 Predictions Thread - CrazedZooChimp - 09-05-2019

$C scored three points against us last year. Now they have a less well regarded true frosh QB, and our D is arguably better. But they're at home, so that's worth 3 points.

20-6, Stanford.

Touché. But shouldn't you be predicting 55 - 21?

Hmm. I would, if you gave me Andrew Luck, Toby Gerhart, David DeCastro and the original Tunnel Workers Union. Throw in Coby Fleener, Doug Baldwin and Chris Owusu for good measure.

But I'm in a wait-and-see mode with respect to the current, hobbled version of the TWU. Perhaps I'll be tempted to raise my prediction to 31-13 if I hear absolute confirmation from Coach Shaw that KJ is starting.

However, thank you for helping me lower my scoring prediction last week, in keeping with the Lake Lag / Lake Michigan analogy. That actually worked out nicely for me.

They've just announced that Costello will sit out Saturday.

Turns out you're too honest, and I've got a flaw somewhere in my logic. Let me figure out what's going on here.

For some reason, I didn't have a good feeling about last week. Our D was quite surprising, and frankly our strength. I have a better feeling about this one, and give us a tight W, 23-22. FWIW, I have a really bad feeling about next week in FL.

RE: Week 2 Predictions Thread - george - 09-05-2019

Turns out I wasn't properly handling the picks that had picked the wrong winner. This has been corrected, cctop, you may have dropped in the standings, but you receive top marks for keeping it honest.
