LOL reputation - Phogge - 05-21-2019
Hey guys there is a new lurker on the board named Wickerman. I have a pretty good idea who he is. What is really funny is that he/she/it has marked me down 9 rep points in a day and a half. He/she/it has no posts. I never use the reputation scale but I just want you folks to know there is somebody out there with a grudge.
He may hate guys who went to a public college or he may hate Jesuit trained guys.
If it’s the guy I think it is I objected to an anti-Semitic post on TOS and did use TOS to down vote him over there.
If it is not him then it could be a jilted lover from 1971. Or maybe Andy Messersmith still pissed that I once got two hits off him.

At least there it's the same site. It's really strange to follow someone to a different site just to downvote them a bunch.
Also, I would have guessed that reputation voting was gated. Seems like it probably should be.

The community is small enough that I think most people who’ve been around a while can figure out your reputation without resorting to looking at the number next to your name.

Amazing how well that story holds up, 146 years later. I recently enjoyed it on audiobook with my kids, and they were just as riveted as they were by Harry Potter.

What is the impact of having a lot of negative votes? Does one get "voted off the island" at some point?

No consequences other than to one's sense of vanity and self-worth. Y'know, the same reasons that motivate all human behavior. ;)
