YIPPEE!
Beautiful track facility in the old Cox Stadium. Sunken so no wind, far enough away from 19th Avenue so little noise. Was a wonderful place to watch a football game especially on a warm September Friday night. Good HS games at Kezar on Thursday and Friday, City College or State Friday night at Kezar or Cox and then Cal or Stanford at 1:30 Saturdays. You could set a schedule as a kid or teenager and still raise hell on Saturday night. And then nine holes at Golden Gate at 7am Sunday. We were kings of The City.

First went in '54. Later saw Charlie Fuller (49ers) play and then the Sochor brothers. Jim should have been hired by Stanford when Walsh left. When I played our QB was Bob Toledo who set a national (all division) record for TD passes and threw to two future NFL receivers, Ed Larios and Joe Koontz. We played the great SD State (Coryell) team with Have Moses and Fred Dryer even until the fourth quarter at the Camellia Bowl.
