37-31 Buffs at the half. KZ has 0 points, and Da Silva has 13.

The first 19 seconds of the second half were the worst basketball Stanford has played in 30+ years

There were worse sequences under Dawkins. The rest of the second half was pretty good which you should acknowledge.

I'd argue the rest of the second half was borderline the best we've played all season. That, 2nd half of ASU, and the first 59:50 of the Kansas game.

Happy that the Cardinal came back strong in the second half to notch a W, especially after the letdown versus Utah.
I still think we can make a run for fourth place if Cormac Ryan can get healthy and contribute like he did earlier in the season.

I'm glad they rallied in the second half, but it's hard for me to get excited about 20 minutes of good basketball when recent history suggests it will be followed by 20-40 minutes of bad basketball.
Two games out of 4th. It's doable but only if this team can put together more than one quality game in a row. So far we haven't seen that.

Agreed. Haase immediately called a time out and yanked Sharma and one or two other starters, and right after that we started chipping away at Colorado's lead. I'm not a big Haase defender, but he made the right moves yesterday.
One thing that hasn't come up in the discussions about Haase is whether or not players are improving under him. I'm seeing a ton of improvement in individual players this season. Okpala has improved in almost every metric and has a good chance fo being a lottery pick. Sharma has mostly gotten his foul issues mostly under control and is contributing on offense and defense. Wills hardly played at the start of the year but is looking great lately. Davis has continued to struggle a bit this year with turnovers, but Haase has been letting him play 2 guard more recently, which I think is helping (more so next year when Terry arrives).

If there were real improvement in most of the players they'd have a better record. Davis is still a turnover machine - I really would like to see Wills run the point and have Davis take more of a scoring role. Sharma is less of a foul magnet but still commits too many stupid fouls given how little depth there is behind him. Okapala is the only true standout vs. last year. da Silva had a great game last night but it hasn't happened often enough he still seems either poorly utilized or a mismatch for Haase's system and this roster.

The highlights of this game are up on Youtube. I searched for them, and here's what came up:

The first video is the highlight reel of last night's game, and the thumbnail is a picture of...Dorian Pickens?
Excellent job, Pac-12 Network.

From what I've heard, the issue with Davis is that he is playing out of position. Stanford doesn't have a true point guard, not even Wills fits the bill, but one will arrive this fall.
It may turn out that Haase is not right for Stanford, but I believe that he knows how to coach based on what he was able to accomplish at UAB.

Agreed, and it's Haase's fault there hasn't been a real PG in the last two recruiting classes.

As a matter of interest can you list the point guards falling within the top 100 who were academically qualified to get into Stanford and who had any interest at all in coming and Haase recruited?

@winflop: Isaac White is a real PG. He's just not very good. So maybe that defeats the point of this rebuttal.
@GK3: Ignoring Isaac White...
2017: Alex Barcello (Arizona), Trae Young (Oklahoma and now the NBA), Saben Lee (Vanderbilt)
2018: Andrew Nembhard (Florida)

Right, which is why I said that Haase may not be right for Stanford. My take is that he knows how to coach and has had to learn on the job how to recruit "Stanford-style." Tyrell Terry, per 247 sports, is a 4-star, 6th-best-point-guard-in-the 2019-class out of MN, 79th best overall recruit in his class. He didn't have offers from Duke or Kentucky, but he did have offers from several B1G and Big 12 schools, including Indiana. So let's see what Haase can do in 2019 with a lineup that consists entirely of players that he recruited.
(Re: SamuelMcF's comments about Isaac White. In his limited minutes, IW has more turnovers than assists. Stanford does not use Isaac as its point guard, so in my mind he's not one, but that's just semantics.)

Sam, what is your source for Stanford-admissible point guards? I ask because Florida, Arizona, and Oklahoma are relatively rare schools for us to cross-recruit against, so I'm just curious how we know all those guys had the application chops to get through admissions? Like, does anyone think a one and done Trae Young would have come to Stanford even if Haase were the second coming of Monty? I just don't see it, so these possibilities seem very hypothetical absent some concrete data.

Nembhard maybe. The others no

Yep, it's quite possible for someone who played point guard in high school and/or club to be a D1 prospect at shooting guard but not point guard.
