I thought he was a pitcher.

Steve Dunning was a Stanford Hall of Fame pitcher. First round draft choice. Only AL pitcher to hit a grand slam from 1971 to 2008
However Steve was a Frosh Quarterback on the football team

Mike Epstein played one year of football at Cal before signing with the Senators. He was a big, hairy firstbaseman who was scary looking when he came to bat against me. A Grizzly Bear who looked like he could pinch your head off.
What was the name of his position on Cal’s football defense?

Epstein was a Gold Medal winner in Baseball at the olympics. Also same HS as Warren Zevon.
But his football position? DE????
