OT: Colts fever - CardinalSagehen - 12-29-2018

I normally don’t have time in my schedule to follow the NFL on top of Stanford football, but I’ve found myself watching the scores and highlights of a rejuvenated Andrew Luck and his Colts team over the last few weeks. After starting 1-5, they’ve won 8 of 9 to put themselves in a position to make the playoffs with a win tomorrow vs. the Titans. Luck has led an instant turnaround story for the Colts for the second time in his young NFL career. As I'm sure most of you know, he’s a leading candidate for Comeback POY and made the Pro Bowl as an alternate.

Luck admittedly started the season without his usual arm strength but somehow played his way into shape. We knew he was back when he unleashed this 60-yard rocket to the electric T.Y. Hilton a few weeks ago.

To top it off, Luck is such a thoughtful, humble guy to support and a walking billboard for Stanford football. Go Colts!

Andrew Luck > Justin Reid

I went to the Colts-Jets game. The Colts were atrocious. Drops all over the place. No defense. Got smoked by a bad Jets team (Jets had 7 FG’s).

They are 8-1 since that game. A remarkable turnaround.

My husband was looking at one of those click-bait articles with pictures of the expensive houses and cars that sports stars buy, and after a succession of Maseratis and such, saw a picture of Andrew Luck with his Honda Accord. Very nice!

I don't recall seeing Andrew in any commercial. Is he a sponsor for any products?

There’s this where he was an early investor.

I don't think this is the way to think about it. If the Texans don't win no one attributes their failures to Reid unless he gets burned a bunch of times. If the Colts lose it impacts Luck's legacy. Personally, I'd like to see Reid shut down Luck on one side of the field, get a couple of big plays, but have Luck pull out the win by attacking other DBs. Win win.

RE: OT: Colts fever - Phogge - 12-30-2018

He just threw the worst pass of his career and Collinsworth is on his azz.

RE: OT: Colts fever - Treefence - 12-30-2018

Yikes that was a bad decision and pass by Luck...

Wow a critical mistake by former USC corner Jackson, and now the Colts are in easy scoring position.

RE: OT: Colts fever - Phogge - 12-30-2018

And the Colts hold on a TD run and then fumble the ball away. Comedy of errors.

RE: OT: Colts fever - CompSci87 - 12-30-2018

Nice to see Luck throw a short TD to Ryan Hewitt. I didn't realize Hewitt was with the Colts.

Too many mistakes

RE: OT: Colts fever - 82lsju - 12-30-2018

looks like the Colts will win now up 33-17 with 2:24 left in the game

RE: OT: Colts fever - PVTree - 12-30-2018

Time to go back "home" and eliminate the Texans.

Happy to see Andrew back in the playoffs.

Amazing. They were putrid early on this year. Not just 1-5. But 1-5 and looking like a candidate for 2-14. Great turnaround.

A Spider 2Y Banana, or close enough, for old times’ sake! Just like Big Game 2011!

Except Hewitt plays as a tight end for the colts and not a fullback and, in this case, the “Y” didn’t run a banana; he ran a pick!

Yep, I could see that they were different plays, but it was "close enough" for my viewing pleasure. In the end, the result is still Luck-to-Hewitt in the flat for a big completion. And if all goes well, the Y is neutralizing two defenders one way or the other!

But you're right that it's more like the typical short-yardage pick plays that are so popular these days. Maybe Clemson helped fuel that trend with their NCG game-winner a couple years ago...

Whoever the Colts GM is deserves lots of credit.  The team was awful last season and they totally revamped the roster.  Quenton Nelson is the best Rookie Guard I've ever seen and looks like a HOF right now.  A lot like when Mike Iupati was a Rookie for the Niners, but I don't remember Iupati being quite as dominant.

The RB Hines was Bryce Love's friend growing up, and is playing the game Love will need to play in the NFL, IMO.  Great drafting all over the place for the Colts, and a well-coached team. If they get by Houston, I wouldn't feel good if I were the Chiefs.

The Colts GM is Chris Ballard, and you are absolutely right.  What a difference it is have him instead of Grigson, who was a complete idiot.  The trade down by Ballard to go from 3 to 6, and receive 3 second round picks from the Jets has already paid off big time.  It's nice knowing Luck's career won't be wasted anymore.
