The NCAA is investigating Oregon.

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6737651

I kept seeing this in Google searches, and didn't realize it was news because all last week and maybe longer, the assumption had been that Oregon was under NCAA scrutiny.

Mark May says no school should hire recruiting services because the schools have paid recruiting staffs and because electronic media make it easier to contact recruits and to see their films. I don't think that's practical.

Be sure to read the Duck comments below the video. They are amusing.

Here's a Wilner summary. Some of it, for instance the part about NCAA "tend[ing]  to uncover violations above and beyond the infractions initially alleged" and then citing a single case is Wilneresque, but near the bottom of the blog, he says "* The NCAA has launched an inquiry into the football program’s relationship with Lyles — an inquiry that will no doubt turn into a full-blown investigation any second now." That's the part I didn't understand in my previous post. What was an inquiry is now an investigation.

Also, the NCAA is already investigating the basketball program. Lack of institutional control?
