Quote:No. 2 Stanford continues Pac-12 conference play with a three-game series against Arizona starting Friday at 7 p.m. PT at Hi Corbett Stadium.

The Cardinal (27-5 overall, 9-3 Pac-12) rides a four-game win streak into the series after sweeping Arizona State this past weekend. Re: Baseball at UofA - Hulk01 - 04-20-2018

Things I'd love to see this weekend

1.  A strong outing from Miller, who hasn't had many this season.

2.  More signs that Christian Robinson could become a very good #6 hitter for us this year.

3.  Strikes.  Arizona's hitters, especially six-through-nine, live on walks and hit batters.

Bonus
1.  Kinamon in uniform and at apparent full strength.

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-20-2018

Robinson earns a walk is first time up (starting at CF #8 today).

we strand 2 men on base and are down 1-0 heading into B2.

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-21-2018

I was out with some Stanford folks and not checking the score.
Haven't watched the DVR so can't really comment beyond what I saw in the first few innings, but was pleasantly surprised at the comeback win, 8-2!

Re: Baseball at UofA - Hulk01 - 04-21-2018

The games all count equally, of course, but game one, against Arizona's ace, looked the toughest.

Remarkable what these guys are doing without Kinamon and Wulff.

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-21-2018

TBeck didn't seem to have his best stuff and got in a bunch of jams, but battled and battled for a quality start. Looking forward to game 2!

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-21-2018

JFYI since the OSU-Oregon game is just entering the 9th (OSU up big), you can view the game on the non-HD Pac12 Bay Area. Bubic in a bases-loaded jam B1, 0-0.

Late add: The game is now on the regular Pac12 channel (HD) and we're down 1-0, middle of the 2nd.

If you’re not watching, you’re missing the cardiac Cardinal. Not gonna say any more just now.

Re: Baseball at UofA - Madera86 - 04-21-2018

As exciting as a game can be following it on the stattracker. Go Cardinal!

Re: Baseball at UofA - M T - 04-21-2018

Wow, what a game!  The final of Stanford winning 8-7 doesn't tell enough.

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-21-2018

Incredible 8-7 come from behind victory! We threw everything but the kitchen sink at them! We score 5 in the top of the 9th and give up 1 in the bottom as BBeck slams the door!

Re: Baseball at UofA - PVTree - 04-21-2018

An exciting game and awesome comeback win!

I thought that inside the park homer doomed us, and we were able to overcome a 3 run deficit entering the 9th. Can they keep it up?

Re: Baseball at UofA - 81alum - 04-22-2018

I'm disappointed in myself.  I actually fell asleep on the couch after the top of the 8th inning with the scored tied 3-3, and missed all the excitement of the fabulous conclusion.  It had been a very well played game up to that point.  I just need to get more rest so this doesn't happen again :(

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-22-2018

Getaway day game on now. We’re down 1-0 T3.

Re: Baseball at UofA - Hulk01 - 04-22-2018

Coach hopes to get two more good innings  from Miller against the bottom half of the order.  Then he'll bring in whom?  Matthiesen or Weiermiller?

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-22-2018

Miller is at 67 pitches B5. Little didn’t throw much yesterday. Does he need someone in between?

*apparently Grech was warming up

Re: Baseball at UofA - Hulk01 - 04-22-2018

Coach doesn't give Miller a lot of pitches.  And he won't bring in Little before the 8th.

Brandon Beck would be my choice if he hadnt closed yesterday, but he should have plentty left.

Palisch in the eighth, especially if he sets up against the two good lefties for the Cats.  Otherwise, maybe he comes in the seventh.

Re: Baseball at UofA - BobK - 04-22-2018

Good call Hulk.  Beck in.

Re: Baseball at UofA - JJJ - 04-22-2018

If I'm not mistaken, he brought Little in for a 9-out save recently, but your point is made

Re: Baseball at UofA - Hulk01 - 04-22-2018

I think coach brought Little in with one eight in the eighth in consecutive innings.

I'd be startled if Esquer ever planned to have Little throw three innings in a game.  Five outs seemed a stretch; I think coach liked Little's matchips with those two hitters in each of those eighth innings--all righties I'd bet.

Speaking of bets: I never would have bet we'd plate over six runs in three consecutive games against Arizona.  Entering the series, they ranked in the nation's top ten for ERA.Â
