Love at 7-1, but I'll take the odds he is runner up, whatever they might be.

I agree with the guy who's saying to just announce Love as runner-up now and get it over with.

Re: 2018 H-award odds - fullmetal - 01-23-2018

Planning for the 2018 GoodGrief H-man voter nose-punching tour commences now.

I’ll clear my calendar for December

Should we purchase brass knuckles for your birthday, or perhaps an early Christmas present, in anticipation of some needed rough-housing of the voting bloc?

Re: 2018 H-award odds - yvonne - 01-23-2018

I just noticed there's a link to calendar button at the bottom of this page.

Is the outside world aware of Stanford's H.eisman runner-up jinx? Or is it just us?

Well, at least two networks know:

Let’s face it the Alabama QB is a lock. Not sure which one will start. But hey, that doesn’t matter.

No, I still have mine from the Andrew Luck runner-up years. And thanks to Lyft, getting to the voters’ houses will be a lot more economical. When the time comes, I could probably use some help planning the most efficient route, so I will ask somebody to plot all the voters’ addresses on a map and spreadsheet for me. But let’s wait until Love is officially announced as the runner-up first.

Re: 2018 H-award odds - North Woods - 01-23-2018

Let’s not jump to conclusions. There is a very good chance he breaks tradition. He could finish third or lower.

Re: 2018 H-award odds - winflop - 01-24-2018

Not sure if my reply got deleted or if it was on another post, but if it weren't for the horrible karma that would befall me I would lay heavily against Love.

Re: 2018 H-award odds - 81alum - 01-24-2018

My fantasy is that he wins it, goes to pick it up, and delivers this speech:

"Why I am grateful to the voters for naming me the recipient of this year's prize, I must respectfully decline the award.  Since 1970 this award has been marred with regionalism, corruption, and Madison-avenue advertising campaigns, and I do not want to permanently associate my name with those values.  I would much rather be in the company of Toby Gerhardt, Andrew Luck, and Christian McCaffrey who are representatives of college football's finest athletic, academic, and ethical qualities but who nevertheless did not receive the Heismann.  My hope is that you will eventually reform how winners are selected so that the award will regularly fulfill its mission to recognize the "outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity."

McCaffrey didn't come in second his junior year.

Maybe we can use the proposed solutions to GoodGrief's NP-Complete problem as a filter for candidates for the new "Cardboard / IBM Watson Director of AI Driven Play Calling Decisions" no doubt soon to be hired on David Shaw's staff.

In some worlds, whenever  "AI" is mentioned, it means 'artificial insemination'. This does lend credence to the opinion that some of the coaches' playcalls are pulled right out of their a$$es.

I know you are CowboyIndian and all but I don't want to be the one who has to review the results after they get a warrant to seize and search your computer. ???

Cheers,

That is not a photo most people would have on their computer or search for on the internet even if they interpreted AI to mean artificial insemination.  I sometimes have to review results from seized computers for my work and, based on that photo, I don't want to see the other photos you have!
