They are betting on Brandon Peters next yer and believe recruit Joe Milton is the second coming.

Well, O'Korn was just...ummm, only a little bit... - Redrum - 11-27-2017

...this side of awful. Or...maybe Michigan's whole offense is and was awful.

I don't follow UM football at all, so maybe he is the fourth string QB trying to save his team, but he seemed like a heart-breaker-man-of-the-hour when they needed him to be much better.

Re: Speight grad transferring from UM - BostonCard - 11-27-2017

"awful" is a relative term; Michigan's offense has been "meh" but not awful.

Tied for 7th out of 14 in the BigTen in scoring offense (25.8 ppg);
9th in yards per game (354.9 ypg);
6th in yards per play (5.34)

On advanced stats (from BCFtoys, excluding the most recent game), they are 55th out of 130 in OFEI, and 83rd in points per drive (1.97)

Of course, people complain about our offense, which gets:
32.3 ppg (just under a td better than Michigan)
394 yards per game (about 40 better than Michigan)
6.55 ypp (1.2 ypp better than Michigan)
2.73 points per drive (just about three quarters of a point better per drive)
And we are 17th in offensive efficiency.

So I suppose that given that people carp about our offense, Michigan's really is "awful".

Re: Speight grad transferring from UM - washingtonismoney - 11-27-2017

Speight is the type of perfectly competent QB who won't elevate an offense but also won't doom it either. Had Speight been QB in 2016-17 the team would have:
a) probably won a couple more games as he wouldn't've had the same lows as Chryst/Burns
b) also kept us from learning about Costello (in all likelihood)

So a bit of a tradeoff there. Since Costello -- by statistics and eye-test -- seems like a highly promising, potential NFL QB, that's a real one.

Re: Speight grad transferring from UM - MustardtheBallCarrier - 11-27-2017

Judging from watching them toss it around on the sidelines pregame or during timeouts, most of our WRs, TEs and RBs throw a better ball than Speight.  His mechanics are goofy and as a result he's not accurate enough.Â
