Stanford Touts Degree\'$ Worth to Recruits - yvonne - 05-24-2011

Ivan Maisel got hold of a letter Stanford sent to recruits, telling them how much the average Stanford alumni make compared to their counterparts at other top 25 schools.

Here\'s a link to the actual letter: http://storagestart2.divshare.com/launch.php?f=14919687&s=f7c

On a related note, I listened to a David Shaw interview, and the coach did not seem daunted by the notion of recruiting to Stanford. "All we have to do is find 20 guys a year."

<<sigh>>
It would have been nice if the letter writer had run Spell Check before sending it out. No triple "s" in Missouri.  :-[

Hey, that\'s recruiting these days - JohnR34231 - 05-24-2011

Noor Davis said he would be continuing to look around, too.

Getting a verbal from a high profile kid these days only means you have won the first battle in what will be a long war.

Did we give up on Blake Leuders after he gave a verbal to ND?

If he means what he [Aziz] says:

Quote:Everything doesn’t have to be right, but it has to be better than Stanford, basically. That’s the number one team, that’s the leader. Matching it up, football-wise, it has to be better than that. Academic-wise, it has to be better than that. All of the stuff will be weighed in.”

we\'re a lock. :)

IMO one can never consider anything a "lock" especially once ND and USC begin pulling out their football traditions.  But, I think the real danger would be if, for some reason, we came out and flopped during the football season in the Fall (which I do not see happening at all with Andrew and the other returning players on both sides of he ball).  As long as the newly structured coaching staff gets everyone to play hard and smart and we end up in a good bowl game, I think we\'ll be ok.  Lay an egg and I think top recruits begin questioning the Post-Harbaugh era.

Regarding last year\'s recruits that got away: both Sarao and Carlisle were heavily influenced by Harbaugh\'s move to the Niners, if I recall correctly.  The long-term stability of Shaw (provided he has on-field success) should be great for the recruiting of Stanford.
