First things first...Congratulations and best wishes to Coach Taylor and Family!
Now, for the inevitable coaching staff discussion...
In a perfect world Shaw would move Pritchard back to RBs (say its for "continuity"or...whatever) and hire a 1st rate QB Coach/Pass Game/Co-OC. Of course that will never happen, so I'm just hoping we don't see another promotion from within. The Offense desperately needs new ideas.

^I think the present situation would be a perfect opportunity for that. The only issue is whether Shaw can find a qualified QB coach who's willing to change life plans right now.

I was going to say this in a snarky way, but it's truly a concern. I fear that Shaw will assign Tavita to QBs, RBs, and WRs. He doesn't seem to like to go outside for offensive coaches.

(Never going to happen but...) This would be an interesting option:

Anyone think this is just elaborate revenge from UNC after the Sun Bowl? Ricky Proehl's son, Austin, is a Tar Heel WR.

DeBartalo fires Mariucci. He's asked what about Trestman? "he's gone "
No thanks

When DeBartolo fired Trestman, Trestman had been the OC of the 49ers for two years. In those two years he:
* Finished 1st and 4th in the NFL in overall yards.
* Finished 1st and 3rd in the NFL in overall points
* Young had highest average YPG passing of his career, one of two times he led the NFL
* Young led NFL in completion percentage both years, led in fewest INTs the second year, led in yrds/attempt second year.
BUT
* Steve Young had his two worst NFL QB Rating years as a full-time starter for the 49ers out of eight seasons. Both years were under 100, all other years as a full time starter were over 100.
* TD passes by young were way below average (20 and 14)
* They were 2-5 in games scored by a TD or less in yr 1 regular season
* Derek Loville was their leading rusher (terrible) and they finished 23rd in rushing for the season.Â
AND
* They won the 1995 Super Bowl, and Trestman's team lost in the first round to green bay in year one,
lots of their studs were old: Young was 35, Rice 34, Taylor 33, Jones, 33.Â
So Trestman was gone...

Odd that Taylor's departure hasn't been officially announced on any Stanford media. Taylor hasn't even changed his twitter page.
Still negotiating, perhaps?

Ah Mick giving up in that last game brought about the firing.Â
Again no thank you on Trestman
Btw it's very possible the 10th coach will be approved in April. Now this will be after the spring game so we could have 2 vacancies and it's possible Shaw will wait
