Final - Stanford 100 UofA 71.
Record for most points in a Pac-10 tourney game.
Ogwumike N - personal best 32 points on 15-22 from the field, 10 rebs, 3 As
Ogwumike C - 21 points on 10-13, 13 rebs, 3 As
Pedersen - 16, 6 and 7
Good minutes for Tinkle, Boothe, and Mel.
More when I\'m not trying to follow and comment on the game at work. Â No, really, it\'s great for the game to schedule two women\'s games during school/work hours with under 1500 in attendance, then a break, then the men\'s games. Â Really. Â There\'s a crossover crowd. Â No, I\'m serious. </sarcasm>

One more stat, just because:
Stanford as a team: 30 Assists, 10 TOs - a 3-1 assist to turnover ratio AS A TEAM. Â That\'s a good ratio for a stellar point guard.

A really outstanding performance. I haven\'t looked at stats yet, but the only negative I remember was the fouls. I believe it wasn\'t an accident that Ify got two early fouls. With her out, Arizona isn\'t very strong.
Oh yea, in the first half, when Nneka sat down, Stanford no longer was able to get the ball inside and just passed the ball around the perimeter. That needs work.
I\'m sure the shoulder shot to Chiney\'s chin wasn\'t an accident, but I also don\'t think it was personal. That\'s the kind of thing I wish the officials would call as an intentional foul under this year\'s emphasis against shots to the head.
The O sisters showed the dominance they can achieve when there is little interior defense. Hat\'s off to Mel. I\'ve not been very impressed by her this year until today.
My prediction now is that NEXT year\'s team will be a Final Four shoo-in. The fact that so many players are playing so well has to help next year\'s team as well.
IF someone felt these games were important enough to take time ($$$) off from work to go to LA and watch the games in person, you could have sat right behind the bench. It doesn\'t look much more crowded with a LA team playing.

I was, well not shocked, but very discouraged to see all the empty seats at Staples. Â Can\'t have felt good to the players. Â According to Jake Curtis, Chiney has a chipped tooth, and has promised to always wear a mouth guard in future. Â Otherwise, it was a fun game. Â Really fun to see the big grins on the sisters\' faces. Â And great to see Mel have such a good game. Â Also I really liked the pre-recorded interview with Tara they broadcast after the game. Â She is a class act!

Has anyone thought of combining the men\'s and women\'s tournaments, and featuring marquee games at night, with women opening the evening?

PAC-10 commissioner:
The conference is evaluating the location for future tournaments.
The league will evaluate basketball refs similar to how it reviewed football officials.
PAC-10 is 5th among conferences in TV revenue.
UCLA lists their women\'s game listed as having 1594 in attendance. If we liberally assume that\'s the number that attended Stanford\'s game, that would be their 3rd lowest all year. That would be about half the attendance at the least attended game at Stanford. UCLA had 8 home games with less attendance. (USC had only 2 home games with more attendance!)
Women:
ASU - OSU, Ariz - Oregon, USC - Wash St, Calif - Wash: 1567
Calif - ASU, Ariz - USC: 943
Stan - Arizona, UCLA - Calif: 1594
Previous women\'s tourney attendance is listed at
http://www.pac-10.org/portals/7/images/Pac-10/championships/basketball/women-tournament-records.pdf
2010 (LA): 5 sessions: 1203, 1177, 1696, 2030, 2432: 8538
2009 (LA): 5 sessions: 1412, 1366, 1760, 2072, 1509: 8109
2008 (SJ): 5 sessions: 2905, 2858, 4402, 4318, 4521: 19,004
2007 (SJ): 5 sessions: 3503, 2867, 4392, 4117, 3579: 18,458
...
2002 (Eugene, OR): 5 sessions: 5842, 5407, 5232, 5585, 5349: 27,415
The move to LA has cost about 10,000 in attendance each year. The drop to 4 sessions appears it will cost about 2,000 in attendance.
Men
OSU - Stanf, Oregon - ASU: 7814
USC - Calif, Ariz - OSU, Oregon - UCLA, Wash - Wash St: 10,782
Ariz - USC, Wash - Oregon: 13,190
Previous men\'s tourney attendance is listed at
http://www.pac-10.org/portals/7/images/MBasketball/2010-11media-guide/5-10-11-Pac-10-Tourn.pdf
2010 (LA): 5 sessions: 6090, 12,125, 12,255, 15,971, 15,851
2009 (LA): 5 sessions: 10,964, 14,732, 16,271, 18,497, 16,988
2008 (LA): 5 sessions: 11,642, 17,194, 16,442, 18,997, 17,534
2007 (LA): 5 sessions: 15,119, 16,318, 16,585, 18,196, 18,259
2006 (LA): 5 sessions: 7,936, 15,144, 15,321, 17,856, 18,544
(At LA since at least 2002)
Attendance in LA seems to continue its decline since 2007. The drop to 4 sessions will cost seemingly 15,000 attendance.
The combination of the two tournaments into one facility for two days probably significantly reduces rental costs. It would seem unlikely that the combined tourney has increased ticket sales. TV production costs probably are decreased somewhat (approximately the cost of any weekend pair of games).
I\'m not sure what I think about any thought of combining the championship games (men & women) into a double header. People who are interested in games by one gender but don\'t really care about the other, would take up seats at both games. So, each set of fans might resent the other.

Arizona coach on the Ogwumikes:
Arizona coach Niya Butts, who hopes her 21-11 team gets an NCAA bid, praised the sisters to the hilt. "They have the potential to be some of the best in the world, not just in our conference, not just the country, but in the world at their position," she said.
