Sorry Yikes 0-11 against Pac-12 California schools - HisKneeWasDown - 11-19-2016

I saw this mentioned on another thread.

So I dug this up: http://www.californiagoldenblogs.com/2016/9/13/12909748/Sorry-Yikes-california-golden-59ers-Under Stanford Control (again)-Literature's Most Famous Losers-ucla-bruins-stanford-cardinal

Quote:"I'm going to be honest with you," ןɐɔ head coach Sorry Yikes said on the Pac-12 conference call on Tuesday, "it doesn't make any sense at all, to me. The way it was explained to me is that it was done for tradition's sake."

It was also done to troll ןɐɔ.

To be fair, he seems more annoyed that they've played one of USC/UCLA on a Thursday night for the past 3 seasons, and Thursday/Friday night games are a tool of Satan, so I give him partial credit.

As noted on another thread, UC defeated SAN Diego St. last year.  They are winless v. California-based P12 opponents....

Yes, fair point.

Correct. I fixed the subject line...

Actually the way UCLA has been playing (five losses in their last six games) it would seem that SD has a reasonable shot at breaking that string next week.

I don't think it will matter one bit.  Yikes, Graham, and RichRod are all gone after next Saturday.  Mora & Helfrich may be as well, although I think the win over Utah saved Helfrich and Rosen's injury saved Mora.

Not sure UCB can afford to fire, and then still pay, Dykes while paying even more to a new HC.  Also UCB indicated that the football program needed to get a higher graduation rate and take more HS students with a 3.0 GPA.  Dykes has been doing that, apparently.  So hard to give him those tasks and then not expect a few years with some losses.

FWIW - I hope he stays.  That O that so many on this board love is really not that good.  The cast of stars Dykes has should have been able to do more against good teams this season.  The post-game conference last night was interesting.  Dykes talked a lot about missed opportunities on O and then added a few general comments about the D needing to make tackles.  The problem with Dykes' priorities were right there in the press conference.  Can't imagine a good defensive recruit would want to join that program.  But still hope he stays.  4 more years!  Please!

For the sake of Stanford continuing to dominate Big Game, I hope Yikes stays for an eternity but your point about budget constraints is a good one.  I hope Mora stays forever too.

Farm93 - who on this board loves their offense? Please cite statements to that effect. I've not seen it.

Must have been on vacation in October.  At the time it was all the rage to say the Stanford offense was terrible and that the UCB O was one many wished Stanford could mimic.

Just search the board history.  You will find it.  And later there were new threads to the idea that I was crazy to be so loyal to the Stanford O.

That trendy UCB O has never succeeded against the better teams, so it seemed like an easy argument to stay loyal to the cause.  Now, in retrospect, I am sure many will try to forget their lack of loyalty to the Power O.  But Power O, I was there for you.  Never doubted you.  And as I walked up to Memorial Stadium around noon in that rain I knew you were the right O for the weather.  :)

Love you Power O!

Worth noting that we scored more points yesterday than any other PAC 12 team.

I have a feeling that if we go back and check - Cal maybe involved in the highest scoring PAC 12 game every week :D

Re: Sorry Yikes 0-11 against Pac-12 California schools - fullmetal - 11-20-2016

UCB's O is currently mediocre.  Not terrible--certainly better than Stanford's offense vs. CU, but obviously not great.  I think it's an effect of Webb being a 5th yr transfer and not having sufficient chemistry with the WRs.  Did you hear that cursing?  (I have yet to review the Big Game thread...)

Dy.kes is 0-11 against the California Pac-12 schools.

Shaw is 18-2 against the California Pac-12 schools.

Pretty big difference.
