I\'m in favor of arming our defensive backs with machetes.

That\'s reactive football. A good defensive back is proactive. Some reactive backs use "bump-and-run" technique to disrupt wideouts at the line. With machetes\' close-range effectiveness, our DBs will be able to practice "hack-and-bleed" at the line. I\'d love to see wideouts beat that jam.
Split responsibilities a good idea - Redrum - 03-08-2011
"Mason will call the defensive signals, although he\'ll share the coordinator\'s duties with former 49ers assistant Jason Tarver. In game preparations, Tarver will concentrate on first and second downs, Mason on the critical third downs. "
And I, personally, will be the coordinator in charge of 4th and l-o-o-o-ng. I\'ll keep my headset on all the time, but mainly to listen to my jams. But 4th and 20? I\'m the man. Then I\'ll get Special Teams coach Pollian to actually get the right players in for the punt return.

Weren\'t there several games last year when we almost didn\'t punt - maybe until the game was well in hand in the fourth quarter?
I am looking forward to the coming year, but I am already nostalgic for 2010. And that feeling is going to grow.
