I'm hoping that McCaffrey being out will force Shawgren to open the playbook up more, akin to what happened when Montgomery went down in 2014.

That's usually a play where the backside guard is pulling. Without it, we have nothing. But great play to Rector on third and long to get us a first down.

Yes, Burns threw a strike on that one. Looked high when he released it, I thought he was throwing it away. But it hit Rector right where it needed to.

So far, Burns is doing well. Decisive tuck and run on second and long gave us third and short, and some nice passes.

The refs are clearly suffering dropoff from previous N.D. games.
Anyway, the OL looks solid enough in the pass game but not great in the run game. Need a play action or two.
