Jeremy Stewart - 97fan - 02-21-2011

Is Jeremy Stewart returning for a fifth season? His name is not included on the spring ball roster. I would have thought he\'d be back, if for no other reason than the fact that he\'s a good special teams player.

Otherwise I didn\'t see any surprises on the roster. Players who appear not to have been invited back for a fifth year include backup OL George Halamandaris and backup DL Brad Hallick.

Jeremy is back per articles about the first spring practice.   Here\'s hoping he can stay healthy.

Re: Jeremy Stewart - pefloresjr - 02-22-2011

The article linked by Yvonne re spring practice notes that Stewart will be back.
"It was thought that running back Jeremy Stewart\'s eligibility had run out, but he\'ll be back for another year because he saw limited action in 2009. "

Cheers,
Pete F.

Thanks, guys. This is good news.

To balance things out, though... - Redrum - 02-22-2011

Owusu is out and not practicing AGAIN.   Makes you wonder if he does make it back and has a complete, stellar season for us,  whether he\'ll be durable enough to have a pro career.   His time is running short and a lot of it has been spent in rehab and watching from the sidelines.

Per observers,  former walk-on Griff Whalen is the bull goose receiver in practice.   And yet, we have JR Patterson and Jamari Roberts,  neither of whom has done much though much was expected.   Think Patterson has a TD on a trick play.

Re: Jeremy Stewart - ATLCard - 02-22-2011

Shouldn\'t really be a surprise that Griff Whalen was the man in practice (with Owusu out).  I remember an article on Luck\'s first year where he credited the thousands of balls the receivers caught from him during the summer, and specifically said Griff caught the most.  Ryan Whalen was a stud for Stanford, but Griff clearly has a good connection with Luck and should help fill that role.

Bigger question, as noted, is who will step up from the JRP, Roberts, Terrell trio.  They will never have a better shot to shine than spring ball this year.

Re: Jeremy Stewart - StannyBoy - 02-22-2011

My guess would be in this order: JRP, Terrell, Roberts.  Devon Carrington was also supposed to be moving to WR but he\'s still listed at safety on the spring roster.  And Darren Daniel will move to WR if Shaw isn\'t impressed with him at QB this spring.
