Men's Golf--The Amer Ari Invitational Day 1 - JJJ - 02-04-2016
Tied for 1st both individually and as a team. Maverick seems to have finished strong, eagling 18 to move to T3.

good grind for Mav, particularly with a double on 9.
to me, most encouraging part of Stanford 1st day scores: Boote and Salinda. Salinda is competing as an individual.Â

Curious your read on this team, but it could be lethal: terrific at one and two, very good at three with Virat, and lots of talent to choose from in filling out the lineup. Does any college team have a 4-8 to match Wu, Huang, Swegle, and Salinda?
And the Texan coming in sounds very good, too.

terrific at #1.
solid with Boote and Viraat, but neither has really emerged as a terrific #2 to push Mav on winning tournaments on a regular basis yet.
really good depth among the "kids" from 4 through 8 with Swegle, Knox, Wu, Salinda and Huang. if they develop quickly, team will set up well for matchplay later this year.

If we can get to match play at the NCAA's, our 4th and 5ths could make the difference, although 18 hole match play, as we know, often seems to much like coin-flipping.

Does anyone know where Jim Liu is now? He withdrew from school a year ago. Said that he planned to return in the fall which did not happen. But I cannot find a record of him playing anywhere now, professionally or as an amateur. I wonder if he burned out on golf. He was such a prodigy at a young age. Youngest ever US Junior champ when he won at age 14.

Thanks, Scooter-Stepford. I root for the Stanford athletes both in and away from the field of sports. I hope that Liu is doing well, whether or not he is playing golf competitively.
