Three offseason questions for Stanford - stupac2 - 01-05-2016

ESPN has been doing these for all the teams, here are ours: http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id/97037/three-offseason-questions-stanford

Re: Three offseason questions for Stanford - fullmetal - 01-05-2016

Fair questions, though I think they lack real focus.  My questions would be:

1. Can the OL reload?
2. Can the DL reload?
3. Do we have a QB who can make the throws?

They're roughly the same areas of focus, but I don't think we need to worry about the WRs or LBs.  We also probably shouldn't worry as much about QB leadership as much as a QB who can throw a good deep ball and zippy pass over the middle or to the flats.

No, I think in our scheme the ability to read pre-snap, set protection, correctly change plays, is more important.

Still not quite the same as "leadership."  I also don't know if Shaw will expect or give that much responsibility to a first-year starter.  We may see the playcalling more dictated by the coaching staff initially unless they immediately trust our next QB starter with all the keys...
