One play - OutsiderFan - 12-05-2015

It's first and 10 between the USC 10 and 15 in the 4th quarter.  It's critical to score a TD on this possession.  You, as a devout Stanford fan, get to call this one play.  You choose the personnel, the formation, and the play.  What do you call?

Mine:

Personnel:
OL: 6 - Murphy, Garnett, Schuler, Caspers, Tucker, Bright
TE: 1 - Hooper
WR 1 - Cajuste
RB: 2 - Love, CMac
QB: Hogan

Formation: It's the WildCaff!  with Cajuste split wide to the right, Love in backfield, and Hooper on the left next to Bright.

Play:  Fake handoff to Love, CMac runs forward two steps and tosses jump pass to a wide open Hooper for the TD.

This play will win the game and send CMac to New York next week!

I like the play where everyone goes right, and then we slip the TE out to the left (usually Hooper) and Hogan throws back to him.

I like the package but I'm going with misdirection.

Fake to CMac & send Love to the flat, then one of two plays called at the line depending on how the defense lines up
If the side away from Love is uncovered or only has one guy out there (i.e., 8 in the box), naked bootleg with Hooper heading to the sideline at or near the goal line.  There will be at most two defenders on that side and Hogan will either force the LB to come at him and then throw to Hooper or run for 5-10 if the LB stays with Hooper
If the side away from Love is covered, Love in the flat or Cajuste 10-15 yards upfield near the sideline (because one or the other or both will be in single coverage)

And I would repeat the same personnel & play options until I get down inside the 2 when it's Heavy Heavy Jumbo (8OL + FB + RB)

Could also send McCaffrey to the wide side for a pitch or a fake and hit Hooper over the middle on 2nd/3rd.

So many weapons, so many choices, and a willingness to use them (most of the time).  That's what I love most about the offense this year.

Re: One play - stupac2 - 12-05-2015

Replace Love with Rector, run power with McCaffrey. Because hopefully he's been gaining 7 ypc all game and the USC defenders are subbing themselves out.

Re: One play - washingtonismoney - 12-05-2015

I want to see some 3-TE formations. It's nitpicking of the highest degree, given how successful our offense has been overall, but I don't get why Hooper/Taboada/Schultz haven't been on the field at the same time more frequently. Taboada's a good player!

WIM,  I'm with you on this one. I recall reading about the team installing some three tight end sets earlier in the season.  I can't recall ever seeing three true tight ends on the field at the same time this year however.  Certainly we've seen a few offensive linemen dressed up as tight ends in just about every game but not as you described.  Makes me wonder if they are saving that kind of package for a game like the CCG today or a bowl game.

The formation scored a long touchdown against Oregon State. Not sure how many other times it's been used since then, though.

First choice, Cajuste in the corner.  Second choice, 10 yard out to Hooper.
