Keiser makes it official. Â He\'s gone - Redrum - 01-06-2011
High rounders, as Keiser is likely to be,  typically need as much minicamp time as possible  to distinguish themselves.  With the labor situation pointing to a lockout/strike,  he\'s got even more of an uphill fight,  but all high rounders do. Â
So  OLB Chase Thomas and ????
   ILB:  Skov and Lueders
You can see Sarao and Vaughters getting playing time next season.

I\'m a little surprised Keiser didn\'t choose to finish with Luck and make a NC run next year (does he not think he\'ll improve next year?)...but to each (on the team) his own. Â Best of luck to him.
I guess Sarao and Vaughters (should the Harbaugh coaching carousel not scare him off) will contend, but Debniak might have an edge from experience.

Thanks to Tom Keiser for his great play at Stanford and best wishes for continued success at the next level. Â I noticed that Debniak played a lot in the Orange Bowl. Â Was that because TK was injured, or ??? Â We are going to be very strong at linebacker next year even without Tom\'s excellent play. Â

Even if we lose our 2 defensive lineman, we can always fatten some of our linebackers and send them to the line.

We lose a couple of stalwart DL\'s in Fua and Bulcke. Â However we have a real baller in Masafilo, a comer in the Mayor, and some great young players in Meinken, Plantaric, Gardner, Anderson and Mauro. Â And we\'re adding some DL talent in the incoming class. Â We\'ll be fine. Â We\'re off the chart at linebacker and the secondary will be outstanding even with the loss of Sherman and, I believe, Skaufel and Yancey. Â The question is whether Fangio returns. Â If so, look out!

I\'ll take a swig of that EUTM :) Â NC run next year! Â JH needs to come along for the ride!

Anyone know if Keiser had completed his degree already? Â I assume he has (since he\'s likely going to be a late round pick). Â Just hope he doesn\'t get screwed by a lockout or some such, I think the LBs will be ok for us.

He projects as a fifth rounder, #10 OLB out of 198, per NFLdraftscout.com.
I wonder if an additional year would improve that status?

It\'s fun to speculate on who will replace Keiser, though we will probably have to wait until Spring to get a god idea of who is developing, and also who is coaching and what kind of defensive scheme they will run. Â My first thought was (and still is) Debniak, though I wonder also about the development of Joe Hemschoot, who is very intriguing because he skipped a year of school and came to Stanford having just turned 17. Thus, he has another year of growth and could turn into a real stud. Â I also wonder if Lueders might end up at DE, where most people expected him to be when he moved to the college level. I\'ll also be interested in seeing Alex Turner, a DE in college, but who many project as an ILB, due to his height. Â I think we are really loaded at LB.

Gardner got a few meaningful snaps at the end of the year at Keiser\'s OLB spot too. Â
