Colts vs. Broncos - FarmBoy - 11-08-2015

A couple of observations/comments
* I wonder what Luck's QB rating is with Griff Whalen on the field. Seriously, all the guy does as  WR is pick up first downs and make plays.
* Maybe Pep really was holding back the offense. The Colts offense appears a lot more cohesive today than past weeks
* Luck is going to get himself killed with all of these runs. Sure, they're important plays for the game, but I worry for his health. He's not Cam Newton.

As I write this, Luck has just lead a field goal drive to give the Colts the lead, but he's taken a tremendous pounding. No way he gets though the season taking hits like he's done today, a few of which were on scrambles where he refused to slide.

And Whalen for another brobdingnagian 1st down. Hopefully the new OC has seen the light on his value.

Colts win!

Re: Colts vs. Broncos - BostonCard - 11-08-2015

Looks like Aqib Talib gave the colts the win with unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct penaties that kept the Colts' last drive alive.  The clock expired with the colts at the one.

The Colts win probability was pretty high before that penalty, but yeah, pretty bone headed. The Broncos had a number of those and perhaps that's part of what goes into being elite defense--playing on the edge.

Re: Colts vs. Broncos - BostonCard - 11-08-2015

Yeah, once Manning three the INT, the Colts were looking good.  And once they were within field goal range and chewed through the Broncos' time outs and the two minute warning, things were looking very good.  But the two penalties against Talib guranteed the win.

No doubt. That penalty sealed the victory. I just wouldn't say characterize it as a "gift."

I just help myself. I had to see what Skip Bayless was saying about the game, since I know he loves Manning, hates Luck, and thinks the Colts were stupid to let Peyton go. I won't post them here, to avoid driving clicks or offending others, but true to form, Skip can't help trowing jabs at Luck even on a day when he was excellent in passing, running, and decision making. What a joker.

Looks like he succeeded.  By the way, the game wouldn't have been close if the Colts didn't allow a punt return for a touchdown to end the firat half. The pubter could have made the tackle...

The returner had a blocker, McAffey is one hell of a punter who is definitely willing to tackle, but he didn't have much of a chance. Really in that situation you should just kick out of bounds.

Some bad news from the game: http://www.stampedeblue.com/2015/11/8/9694048/henry-anderson-suffers-significant-knee-injury-in-colts-win-will-undergo-mri

The Colts fans recognize the high value Anderson has been providing. Hopefully this doesn't present too big a barrier to the Colts trying to turn around their season.
