And that some year they have to play 5 conference road games. I guess the math program isn't too good there.

I liked the part where he argued that Cal could be 7-0 if only their schedule were easier.

They would totally own the MWC.

And the import of BG steadily declines. It would have been if it turned out to be the game that decides the Pac12 north champ. I guess it still could though only as an elimination game for Stanford.

Well, the Be
ars are unfortunately going to be put in the position of spoiler -- and unlike in previous years, this year they're actually good enough to do it. For some reason, a Bear team without much to play for besides ruining Stanford's chances at the playoffs scares me more than a Be
ar team actually playing for something.

Another week, another moral victory for Low APR U. But still not a single quality win in the Yikes era, which is increasingly likely to end this year.

Is Dy.kes likely to be fired? I had not heard that.

Nothing more than my speculation, but keep in mind that Yikes' agent wanted to talk about a contract extension and the Ath Dept refused to discuss it until after the season. That smells like a sign that Yikes' seat is getting warm.

Not really, it's preposterous to talk about an extension with exactly zero winning seasons.

The program is trending up though. kal fans oughta feel good about that.

I expected SC to blow out the 59ers. Actually somewhat impressed that they kept it close.
They've kept Utah and SC both close despite losing the turnover battle 8-0. That's pretty good, though scant consolation to East Bay denizens.

Is it though? I guess we'll see, but it's not clear to me that they're better than last year, and when Goff goes into the NFL where will they be? They ought to get to at least 6 wins, probably 7 (since they'll likely steal one between Oregon and ASU), but they could easily be 4-8 next year with no clear upward trend from Tedford (remember that 1-11 was Dykes's first year).

It doesn't really affect your point, but C.al lost those turnover battles by a combined 9-3 (6-3 against Utah, 3-0 against U*S*C). I agree that C.al kept it closer than expected in both games.

Good point about Goff's departure. kal fans removed from their Bay Area reality-warping bubble of entitlement see the program as on its way up, but they haven't said anything about the post-Goff era.

Gotta agree with stupac -- you're aiming to peak with the last year of your prestige QB. If this is the best you can do, well, that's not great.
Looking at their recruiting history at QB: they brought in Luke Rubenzer in 2014. He's now at safety, IIRC. In 2015 they bring in a very modestly rated guy at QB. And that's it in terms of experienced, scholarship QBs, so far as I can tell. During yikes's tenure, the 59ers have never ranked above 7th in the conference in 247's composite recruiting rankings. While recruiting rankings are not perfectly predictive, they are suggestive -- and they don't suggest great things for the future of the 59ers.

I think C.al's defense is better than last year. But yeah, their offense probably will take a step back without Goff.

On the othet hand, they won the turnover battle in a number of close wins, if I recall. Back then they were touring their defense's ability to generate turnovers and my thought was "regression towards the mean".

Is it guaranteed Goff leaves? He seems like "C'al" guy.

Just wondering why UCB has had reasonable success in MBB ( not lower than 4th in Pac12 in Monty's 6 years) and ranked in this year preseason poll, yet so much less success in football in recent years. It doesnt seem to be a systemic athletic dept recruiting issue. Do they just have more of a BB reputation? Better BB coaching? Less Pac12 focus on football so easier to recruit than in football?
