Pat Haden stepping down from CFP committee -
fullmetal - 10-30-2015
Citing health reasons and major ongoing changes at U$C for the decision. Gotta think he would have been a Stanford advocate in December, sigh. Seems like the best decision for him though.
Quote:"I am reluctant to step down, but my doctors advised me to reduce my traveling," Haden said in a statement released on Friday through the CFP. "With the weekly CFP meetings about to start and the travel commitment involved, I had to make this difficult decision. I feel it is in the best interest of the CFP and also of USC, with our current football coaching change and our upcoming Coliseum renovation."

Are we sure about that? I know there's something to be said for conference allegiance but his sideline incident makes me wonder.

I'm sure they can just replace him with another Trojan. Maybe Ronnie Lott?

I believe his slot must be filled by another PAC12 athletic director.

If that's true, I'm sure we can do better than him. I s'pose he's not a bad guy, if you're an S.C. fan. But folks like him can't think straight about football - their S.C. derangement screws everything up.

I believe the Committee announced it will operate with the remaining 12 members through the end of this season.

Well, the conference would be due $8.08 million in the event a team (Stanford) makes the playoffs, so I'm sure Haden would have been a Cardinal fan, at least temporarily. I don't know how the conference distributes that money but I'm sure SC would have received a chunk.

My guess is he will step down as AD sometime after the first of the year.

Yes they did, and, if it ever came that close, an even number would make a split vote a possibility... ???

Choose the person with the most ties to either team involved to be recused...before the vote...
...or draw straws?

I think it's only fair if the Cardboard is given the 13th vote.
