So apparently THIS will be the last strong year for Stanford football. According to the SC fans on that chatboard. So enjoy it while you can, ladies and gents.

Reading down the link you will find some seriously worshipful props for our program.  All SC fans are not idiots.

Funny Bruins fan comment.

"Do we get participation trophies at the end?"

I liked this exchange:

I just hope they can keep it together in the locker room now at this point.

Well, any time you switch QBs you expect to have some issues. Fortunately Chryst has looked pretty good so far. But 2016 will lose some key offensive pieces, we'll still have DL issues, and even-year schedules are brutal. I could definitely see it being a setback year.

Re: Salinate the internet - French Rage - 10-16-2015

And it's so awful these games are making Shaw look like a good coach and Hogan look like a good QB, because you know, they're not, gosh-darnit.  Sure, every team they play is just playing bad and making them look like it, but c'mon, they just can't be!

Also, you good read a Cal board about a Stanford game without knowing the result and guess based on how quickly they resort to taking shots at our attendance.

The stadium was packed in the first half. Though lord knows why so few people came back after the half, because that game wasn't over by any means. I sort of get leaving after the third quarter, it was late, traffic sucks, the game was clearly over, but after the half? Come on guys. At least I got to make fun of the people in front of me who missed the Owusu catch.

I'm not leaving until the alma mater, so even leaving after 3 is weird for me.  That said, this is why Thursday night games suck.

Re: Salinate the internet - yvonne - 10-16-2015

I didn't find the UCLA board that bad. That's how we sound after a bad loss. OTOH, it's always good to read BI after a Stanford win, especially this year with all the "f--d isn't really that good" talk.

So at this point, how many last strong years have we had?? Last year of Harbaugh, last year of Luck, last year of Taylor, last year of Gaffney...?

Which has been going on for more years: "Stanford is at the end of their run" or "This is UCLA's year"?

I agree... I was starting to feel a bit sorry for them.  They definitely carried an undercurrent of insecurity into it that is different than the USC boards (which drip with arrogance) or the Cal boards (chip-on-shoulder).  It was almost, a bit, pathetic.

Re: Salinate the internet - stanfan - 10-16-2015

I have read on several boards (including one of the links at the start of this topic) that this is our last good year because we will  lose our O line to graduation this year except for Tucker.  I know we lose Murphy and Garnett, but doesn't every other O line player with significant playing time have at least one more year of eligibility?

That is correct.  Stanford lists players by academic year, not eligibility year (I mean, can you believe the horror that Stanford somehow thinks things like how many years a student has been a student is more important than how many years of eligibility a football player might have), so Murphy and Garnett (fourth year of eligibility and going to the NFL next year) and Caspers and Shuler (third year of eligibility and, hopefully returning next year) are all listed as seniors.

Here's a fantastic Bruins post, alluding to the "well known dirty play" of Stanford: http://www.bruinsnation.com/ucla-stanford-bruins-cardinal/2015/10/17/9559349/the-eye-test-the-ucla-bruins-take-another-body-blow-from-stanford
