I'd sort of hate to see us "break out" of the constraints of Pac-12 and Rose Bowl championships.

Honestly I think it will be hard to do better than we did this year [when do better can only mean make the playoffs].  Our even year away schedules are brutal.  @UCLA, @Washington, @Notre Dame, @Arizona, @Oregon, @Cal.  I could see 2-3 losses there alone.  Not to mention USC and Washington State at home.

I wouldn't be surprised by 3 or 4 losses in the regular season, even with the great team we are fielding.

However, I think playoffs are a real possibility in 2017 when we get our favorable home schedule back.  Especially if McCaffrey stays [and if Chryst lives up to the hype], I wouldn't be surprised if we were a preseason playoff favorite going into 2017 with our schedule.

Re: Class of 2016 - Red State - 01-08-2016

I'm a believer in the P12N's Yogi Roth. He picked Stanford to win the P12 in '15. Yesterday he said they would go 12-0 in '16. Curtis Conway didn't exactly disagree with him.

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 01-08-2016

Can we please keep this thread to updates on recruits in 2016 class, especially the last three weeks before LOI day?

Can't who the starting QB might be have its own thread on the main board?

I still am waiting for someone who knows if Demetris Robertson is visiting next weekend.  If he doesn't visit, he's not going to come even admitted, IMO.

Per this article, he's still trying to get official visits lined up this month for Stanford, Alabama, and Georgia, but hasn't nailed down dates yet.  So, nothing certain.  But after saying we're his leader for months now, you'd think he'd make it a priority to swing by before signing day.  Obviously the Big Visit would be the best time to make our closing argument to him (assuming admissions clears him eventually).

Rule of Tree had an article on what's left on the board for Stanford:

The author of that RoT article may as well have been reading Cardboard posts.

I don't see Robertson playing any other position for Stanford other than than WR, given the logjam in the secondary and the depth at RB.  I'd say slot, but I think Jabari Tyler is really going to be the guy there.  Robertson seems like he would be the deep threat to replace Rector.

That seems like it would be a big waste of his talent to put him at WR for Stanford.

I could seem him also (at least) being KR and PR (if not also finding creative ways to get him the ball in space as much as possible).

I do like what RoT was thinking with him being a RB to spell McC.  We'll see what the coaches think if we recruit him and get him in fall practice.

I feel blessed to be a Stanford fan with talented skill players like McCaffrey, Chryst, Love, Schultz, Irwin, and (Robertson?).  What an offense that could be next year...

Wow, indeed - I like it!

Also, J.P. Shofti who was mentioned as a possible walk-on a little earlier in this thread is 1st team WR.

1st Team All American is a walk-on?  What, does he have bad breath?

Indeed, because after 130+ pages we're running out of room and thread drift is punishable by.....what?

Shohfi plays in San Marino against inferior competition.  He probably received the AA recognition due to gaudy stats.  He's not an elite recruit, though he would be a nice addition to Stanford's class if he decides to walk on.

I believe that had to do with approved vs unapproved thread drift.

Monetary policy, Civil War small unit battles, and Austrian philosophers are good examples of approved thread drift. Other football related subjects are not.

5 pages of argument over quantum mechanics just reminds us of why we have so few trolls.

Had Hooper and Rector stayed I would of been supremely confident on us running the table. If Chryst was just decent we would be the best offense in the country bar none.

But now I feel like our offense will cost us 1 of those September road games(@ UCLA or @ UW)

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 01-09-2016

I'm really starting to feel Donald Stewart is Farm bound.  He visited on his own, and is attending the big OV weekend next weekend.  If Robertson is admitted he will be too.

Robertson would absolutely fill whatever void Rector leaves.

Just wondering how Robertson is going to know about admissions by next weekend if he has to improve his SAT score, since (according to the SAT website)  the next test isn't until Jan 23.
