And amartinsu, you're right. I'm guessing his 40 is closer to 4.5, as I think Love officially clocked in at ~4.45. He does appear to have nice torque throughout the RPM range, however.

Yes, but watch that little fullback block for him. He's scrappy and always puts his hat on the correct side. He gets downfield and never quits on a play.

Looking like a large group of walk on players this year. Potentially Peus and Richardson at QB, Shohfi and Schwartz at WR, Gutwald at OG, and Dawson at LB (though he's going on a mission). Maybe more who aren't on my radar. Really nice luxury to have guys want to work 40+ hours per week for free. I hope that they get the experience they're after and that they make a meaningful contribution to the program.

It would be interesting to see how often a walk-on stays on the team all four years without getting a scholie. Seems that, understandably, many wash out, burn out, or join up after freshman year.

I highly doubt the last two on this list are even in the game. They aren't prestigious academic institutions, and that's his #1 criteria. I hope the top 3 aren't in order of preference. I still think Stanford has a great shot.

The "experts" missed the boat on this one big time. TAMU tops the predictions, yet the kid has said multiple times that his #1 priority is a prestigious degree. The guys making those predictions have their head in the sand. No predictions for Stanford or Notre Dame, probably the two actual leaders. This is just one of many examples that illustrate the principle that, for Stanford, the only value in the Crystal Ball is knowing that false positives are rare. False negatives occur often enough to make a lack of Stanford predictions meaningless.

Keep in mind that in Texas, TAMU is widely considered to be a prestigious degree. And that's not entirely crazy: nearly all Texans stay in-state for college (a far higher percentage than in most states), and TAMU is the third-best university in the state.

While at Stanford, I got enough education in relativism to last me a lifetime. Let's just focus on objective criteria. My understanding is that UT-Austin has a 10% rule, which is that all kids in the top 10% of their class automatically earn admission. McCulloch is in the top 1% of his class, plus he's his class president and the star of his football team. He's a superstar. There wouldn't be another kid like him in his whole class at TAMU.Â

This is a big part of the equation, I think. A lot of our recruits fit this profile -- class president, great grades, great kids -- and they're also incredible football players. If they take a visit to Stanford, it's almost certainly the only place where they see other kids like themselves. And that's the big recruiting advantage Stanford enjoys. Birds of a feather.

In Dallas County public schools fifteen valedictorians and salutatorians were headed to Texas A&M. The list also has one each for Stanford, Harvard, Duke, Rice, and Williams. And two for UC Berkeley.
