Confirming my read of the tea leaves, another 247 "expert" prediction came out for Stanford this morning. As previously noted, 247's false positive rate for Stanford is exceedingly low.Â

That is fantastic, it definitely hurt not getting any in last year (and having multiple walk-on candidates rejected). Congrats to both of them, they'll be getting some reps in practice, no doubt!

Yes, he is a 3* guard with offers from Oregon, OSU, WSU, and Arizona.
Per this article (http://www.scout.com/college/notre-dame/story/1618645-cali-ol-weighing-walk-on-options, free), it is a Stanford/UDFG final, with both schools offering him a preferred walk-on position. I would have to say that given how much he is valuing academics (picking a preferred walk-on over a scholarship at less academically distinguished schools), Stanford looks good here.
And oh, by the way, where is the school across the Bay in all of this? I would have to believe that A) They can use offensive linemen B) He's good enough for them if he enjoys and offer from Oregon and C) They'd have a good shot if they offered a scholarship, no?

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't students already committed to come if they get accepted through restrictive early decision process? I think that's a university policy though I guess there isn't a great enforcement mechanism.

No, I think Stanford is early action, so students aren't obligated to come if they get in.

Robertson would be a very large addition. In the end, though, we are in the rare position of actually having a lot of commits early (as opposed to years past, where a number committed to us late), so we have less scope for improvement than some other teams.
But more important are making sure the committed ones make it through admissions. Worried about Long, for example.
Lastly, it's not about winning the recruiting rankings; it's about winning games with the recruits you sign.

BC speaks the truth. No obligation. But most students thank the heavens and many stop applying to other schools when they get this bit of good news. 8)
*N.B. Actually, many also keep applying to other schools and wait until they get all the financial aid offers before making that final decision. This is probably more relevant to the general population than to athletes being offered scholarships, of course.

Further to the above, the "restrictive" part of the early action application is that an applicant can't apply to any other school during the early action period.

They may apply to other colleges, but not under EA or ED. In other words, EA application deadlines are in October or early November. Some schools, including the UCs are due at the end of November, while many others are due late November or even early January. EA and ED applicants usually hear in December. So, a kid can apply to only one school as either EA or ED, but may apply to the rest on the regular admission only, due to the overlap in deadlines.
