Demetris Robertson, ATH, Sr., Savannah Christian My mom was devastated. I communicated with him and told him that he will bounce back. Hes a great guy.
Also, Mike Farrell says #1 QB recruit Jacob Eason was really tight with Richt and wonders if he will stick with his UGA commitment. I'll bet Chris Peterson, Harbaugh and Brian Kelly are ALL OVER him, since contact period started Sunday.
Would expect news of some Stanford recruit in home coaching visits soon.

P.S. I understand that lots of kids announce their commitment at the UA and Army bowls, but I'll note that McCulloch and Burton are both announcing at the UA game and could be planning to make a splash for Stanford. Both of them are very well spoken and highlight the importance of academics in their interviews, so Stanford would make sense.Â

For a while now I have thought that Burton was in the the "If he's admitted he Commits to Stanford" category.

Here's an interesting tea leaf that may corroborate your intuition:
Last week, right before SAT scores came out, he gave an interview in which he said that his last official was going to be UCLA, Az, or kal. After SAT scores came out, he replaced kal with Stanford. Here's the older interview:

I will say that Stanford is never the focus of his interviews, so it's hardly fair to call Stanford a lock, even pending admissions, but it is definitely possible that he's just playing it close to the vest until he has more info on admissions.Â

Among the winners, Stanford already has a commitment from Simi Fehoko and is pursuing Theo Dawson as a potential walk-on candidate. An interesting note is that both of these guys are LDS and going on a mission. The walk-on option actually looks pretty good for Dawson since his only offers to date are Wyoming, Montana State, Air Force, and Ivies. I hope Stanford gets him.Â

We could also get someone like Tawa to come in for special packages, the way we've used Burns (sparingly).

The problem with Tawa playing in sub-packages, and someone correct me if i am mistaken, is that he would then count as a football scholarship player. Since he has a baseball scholarship, I believe he can practice with the football team, but the second he plays, his scholarship counts against the football limit. This rule is to stop schools from offering baseball/other sport scholarships to football players to skirt the limits.

TC and BC, I suspect Shaw will take a walk-on QB and Tawa if he wants to give it a go. I've read of or heard about 5 names as potential walk-ons, including Richardson. the team will need more than 3 arms for practices
ten years ago a couple of the walk-ons would have been key offer targets.Â

Zane Boles was supposed to be a walk on QB this year. I think there was a Cardboard thread on him. Anyone know whatever happened to him?
I answered my own question. Googled him. He ended up at a small school in Texas.

If he played in a FB game Tawa would be a FB counter. But. There are few if any full baseball scholies so Tawa and Shaw could well be thinking this. If several decide to leave for other grad schools like this year there will be openings

Isn't Tim Tawa Class of '17? So we're still a good while away from him providing some practice depth at QB.Â
So for next season, at least, it looks like we'll just have Chryst, Burns, and Costello. (My use of the work "just" is meant to refer to numbers only, because that's a darn good trio.) Thus, we could really use a walk-on for fall camp (and even for spring practice this year).Â

We don't allow early enrollees. So two this 2 this spring. We appear to have a prime candidate to walk on this fall plus Costello so 4 QBs next season is very possible.Â

Oh wow. If Stanford can land Richardson as a walk-on in 2016 and Tawa as a walk-on in 2017, that would be amazing. I didn't realize any of this but I now see that Tawa has won TWO Gatorade POY awards in his second best sport and he's still only a junior. He must be a truly phenomenal athlete.

Assuming we're talking about Jack Richardson from Palma HS in Salinas, it seems strange to me that he'd be a decent walk-on possibility, since he's a 2- to 3-star recruit (2 stars on Rivals, 3 on 247) with decent size. But his Rivals and 247 pages reveal no offers. Anybody have any insight as to why no schools have bothered to offer him? I get that he's not a top prospect, but you'd think that there'd be some directional school or FCS team that would be trying to land him.Â
With that said, however, I agree that he'd be a heck of a walk-on option and would add some much-needed depth at fall camp. I'm still nervous about the lack of arms at spring practice, though.
