I'm guessing they have the commits come to games to A) keep their commitment firm and B) act as unofficial recruiters for the uncommitted recruits in the party?

The Donald Stewart article did not make me feel confident in his application, let alone admission. It sounds like he's on the fence as to whether submit an app or even take the SATs again. Hopefully he will find the time and motivation to do the final steps to make Stanford a possibility.

I had a similar take. On the plus side, he does plan to return in Mid-January for the big weekend. Presumably that will be only if he gets the needed scores and completes the application.

Stewart seems to know he needs a higher SAT score. It sounds like he might be wondering if it is worth it to try getting the score he needs. He probably has Stanford as his #1 choice, but isn't sure he can get that score, so he wants to take some other trips to get comfortable with other options. I have to agree he's probably not a very high probability Stanford commit.
Are there any WR options after Stewart, Crawford, and Robertson? Brandon Burton seems out of contention now too.

There are lots of ways to read the statement in the interview. He could have been waiting on November results to decide whether another re-take was necessary. He could be deciding between SAT and ACT. I watch actions more than words. Stewart has flown cross-country to Stanford three times, including this last weekend, all on his own dime. Those aren't the actions of someone who thinks that Stanford is not a realistic option or of someone who would choose not to take a 3 hour exam to get admitted. Based on his actions, I completely discount the hedging in the Drukarev article. He may not end up in the class, but it won't be for lack of effort or interest.Â

If the current WRs do not pan out, I wonder who would be Plan B. We had Ikenna Okeke on the board at safety for a long time, but I discounted the chance of him coming to Stanford once Ulloa committed at safety. Okeke also had a productive year at WR, however, so maybe that is an option. He's far from blazing, but he has the size and physicality to play WR in Stanford's system.Â

The visit report on 4 star OLB Jeffrey McCullough makes it sound like Stanford is in a very good spot for him. He's submitted his application and will announce at the Under Armor game. It sounds like he will choose Stanford if admitted. Has offers from Alabama, LSU, UDFG, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, USC, UCLA, and more, so he must be pretty good.

McCulloch's visit report from UDFG was glowing, too, so I don't know how much weight to put on the things he says in an interview. Plus, it's better not to reveal too much from behind the paywall anyway.Â
What we do know is that McCulloch is admissible. Top 1% of his class by GPA and senior class president. If he were just waiting to be admitted, it would be over long before January 2. He's got officials to TAMU, Michigan, and possibly Florida coming up. I still think Texas, Michigan and UDFG are threats, regardless of admissions. But I do think Stanford has a legitimate shot. If Shaw can land him, that's a h.uge recruiting victory against all of the top schools in the country, not to mention a really nice addition to the future linebacking corps.

I'm pretty sure Long will get a chance to play some offense if he primarily plays defense, especially if he goes to Michigan or UDFG. I've never heard Shaw say he would play someone both ways. Of course, I've never heard him say he wouldn't either. Both Robertson and Long would seem to have both way potential.

Any recruiting implications for beating UDFG?Â
This game makes it clear how badly Stanford needs David Long, and how valuable it will be to land Robertson. It sure would suck to lose him to UDFG when Stanford is his #1 choice!

Glad to know a lot of recruits were there. There was a lot of star power (like A-Rod) watching the game today. Bet that got some of them excited.

Sorry, i meant that they took officials to udfg. I was responding to the comment about common recruits. Mcculloch was at stanford last week for kal. Burton probably not taking an official to Stanford.

Some ND fans think McCulloch used them for a free weekend vacation and isn't really considering them. So UT does make sense.

I can see Long ending up at ND if Stanford doesn't work out but not Robertson. Doesn't seem to be into them and no one there really thinks he'll come. If Stanford is not an option UGA much more likely.
