Schaffer looks like a real possible get. He's submitting an application, so if admitted, he more than likely commits.
That would give Stanford a 2016 DL class of:
Michael Williams
Bo Peek
Jovan Swann
Thomas Schaffer

OF, Bentley's junior highlights show a number of designed runs. He's no Michael Vick, but he seems agile enough to move around he pocket.

It wouldn't be out of question to believe that Dylan McCaffrey would also favor us if he received an offer.
If this were the case, that would mean that 3 of the top 6 Pro-Style QBs (per 247: http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/CompositeRecruitRankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool&Position=PRO) favor Stanford.
This is pretty remarkable, considering that we just took KJ Costello in this most recent class, very likely would have gotten Rosen in the previous class, and got Keller in the class before that.
This tells me that Stanford's the premier program for the top Pro-Style QB prospects in the country and that we'll have pick of the litter when necessary.

What is the difference between "dual threat" and pro style anyway? To me, if you want to make it in the NFL, you need to be a pro-style QB, and plenty of "dual threat" QBs are drafted high by the NFL.
Does this basically come down to if you can't run fast, you are considered pro-style, and if you can run you are dual-threat? Can't there be guys that want to be trained in pro style offenses who are great runners also? And even if you run a read option offense and carry the ball a lot in high school, it doesn't mean you can't learn the pro-style offense at Stanford, does it?

You mean like Burns? To be fair, he didn't run a read option offense in high school; he ran a single wing offense. But he was certainly not a pro-style QB when he was recruited. I suspect that we will see more and more high schools going wth spread option and run/pass option concepts, because they are easier to learn and implement, so we will have relatively few pro-style QB's available (same with the college to NFL transition). The best QB's, of course, will be able to learn how to become pocket passers, but many will struggle with the transition.

Keller Chryst looks to have a good throwing motion, and when we don't have lineman who can enable us to always run, then we will have a need for good WR, probably even by the time they are ready to contribute.

The 1 reception for 13 yards doesn't sound so impressive, but I think he makes the bigger impact on defense, which is where Stanford is recruiting him. His team's only losses were to Ulloa's school and McCaffrey's school, both national powers. I'd be curious to know if any of you have seen him play in person or on television. He's got only a moderate recruiting profile, but his highlight film on hudl looks good to me.Â
