In order of priority (DL, WR, LB, RB) Stanford seems to still be in the running for:
1. DT Swann
2. DE Schaeffer
3. Ath Robertson
4. Ath Burton
5. WR Stewart
6. LB McCullogh
7. LB Carmouche
8. RB Speights
I don't know how big the class is going to be, but I'm guessing they would take up to 6 on this list, and find a way to get 25 in the class if at all possible. This is a year to really leverage a great recruiting haul with a big season on the field, isn't it?

Why the limit at 20?
I seem to remember that a while back we went through the counting exercise and decided that Stanford could probably take up to 25 if they found that many good options. Right now I don't remember the details ... and of course we could have been off on some assumptions.

Just from my uninformed look at the eligibility chart. They always seem to have more every year than I expect.Â
I'm also fully expecting Kaumatule to come back next year. I have no evidence to support this.

The evidence is that Kaumatule is not playing and is being redshirted. He wouldn't do that if they weren't saving him for next year.

I believe they can take 25. It means next year's class will have to be small, but they can take that many of they want. Plus Fehoko won't count, and there may be other attrition.
Also, did Crawford commit elsewhere? As far as I know he's still an option.

Crawford hasn't committed anywhere.
Don't forget Jordan Fox, I hope at least.Â

Crawford will announce his commitment at the USAAB in January. He still is considering 8 schools, including Stanford, but not including U$C or UCLA.Â

My guess is a net 23. One on a mission and maybe another 1-2 on a mission and maybe adding Jordan Fox

The staff has been recruiting LDS kids with remarkable success, and the number of LDS recruits choosing Stanford seems to be increasing. Recent commits include Fanaika ('12), Barton ('13), Veach ('14), Reid ('15), Heimuli ('15), and Fehoko ('16). I would not be surprised if the staff also lands Bills ('16), Kaufusi ('16), Dawson ('16) (walk-on), Heimuli-Lund ('17), and Ah You ('17). The two targets for the next class are whales.Â

Veach wasn't LDS when he came to Stanford; he converted his freshman year.

The staff would not invite him for an OV if he weren't enrolled in the requisite APs. Add the fact that he is in the Top 1% of his high school class, and it becomes reasonable to believe that he's an admissible candidate, if, in fact, he wants to come. Plus, he's waiting until January 2 to announce, which means he'll likely have a final decision from admissions, or at least have a very good indication of his admissions status.Â
Since 2012, Stanford has lost very few recruits who have come on an official visit and been admitted. I think you could even expand that to recruits who have come on an official visit and not been rejected or at least informed that they probably would not be admitted. I still think the entire list consists of Uriah Leaitaua (special case because of the pull of religion), Devon Allen (special case because track & field was a major factor), and Jameis Winston (special case because he's a buffoon). Any others? I would would not bet too heavily against Stanford here.
On top of the academic info, I note that McCulloch is the president of his high school class. He's an admissions officer's dream candidate. I hope he recognizes that he'd be a better fit at Stanford than at TAMU.Â

Carmouche committed to Arkansas on his official visit this weekend. The team should be fine with Barton, Okereke, Perez, and Branch in the middle, but all of those guys have leaner frames than Carmouche, so Turley will be key.

Demetris Robertson's mid-season highlights:
http://www.prepforce.com/video/8259
Notice there are some highlight plays in very wet conditions. Stanford could have used him last night.
Re: Class of 2016 -
OutsiderFan - 11-02-2015
So based on that highlight reel, Robertson is playing RB, WR, and Safety.
Where do you play him? Usually, I put the best athletes on defense. But you also want to get him on the field ASAP and I doubt Akina would start him at Safety as a True Frosh. Given Stanford doesn't have many dynamic play makers at the WR position, and how Robertson's got the quickness to get open and make guys miss in the open field, I'd put him at WR.Â
Re: Class of 2016 -
TrumpCard - 11-02-2015
Stanford wants him as a WR. Others want him as a CB. He plays RB in high school to get more touches, but he's skinny for the position. He plays safety in high school to prevent guys from throwing away from him, but he's more valuable in college as a corner.

Although not terribly surprising to this Stanford homer, there is a UDFG reporter who thinks Brandon Burton has Stanford in his top 4:Â

See below. Presumably, the guys Yarbrough tagged on this tweet are guys who he wants to recruit to come to Stanford. I note that he does not include his buddy, Keith Simms, who seems out of the picture. Some of the recruits Yarbrough tagged are long shots. One seemed like a decent bet until he committed elsewhere. I wonder whether that bet is still in play. :)
