Charlie Trippi died yesterday at age 100. He was the oldest living Pro Football HOFer. Who succeeds him as the current oldest?

Who is the oldest baseball HOFer?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Giants - 10-23-2022

TCU just completed a feat not accomplished since 2012 - defeat four ranked teams (at the time TCU played them) in a single calendar month.

Who was the last team to beat four ranked teams (at the time they played them) in a single calendar month?

What's the worst football season record that Stanford has had in a year in which the Stanford Cardinal defeated Notre Dame?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 10-24-2022

Carleton State? Azuza Pacific? Laverne? Towson State? Fort Lewis? St. John's Minnesota? Pacific Lutheran?

Mick Stanford over Domers 1990?

You're on the right track. The further back you go, the more likely that a win over ND was an upset.  In the last 15 years, Stanford wins over ND usually came during strong season.

John Ralston's first season was 1963. The team was 3-8. The only teams they beat were San Jose State, Cal...and Notre Dame. Stanford lost to all other California, Oregon and Washington opponents, plus Rice.  ND was only 2-7 that year, beating UCLA and USC.

Mick, The win in 1990 came with the Domers ranked #1.

Plus, what position did Steve Thulow play in 1963? What was a feature of his game against ND? Who was Dick Berg?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 10-24-2022

In 1963 Berg was the QB
Thurlow was a RB in 1963 had been the QB.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 10-24-2022

But Bobbbbbb, what play did they run and run and run...... to confuse the Domers?

Berg played because Clark Weaver the starter went down with a knee injury at the start of the season, but he did return to play against Cal, but only as the holder for the kicker.  Weaver benefited from such an early return due to Dr. Behling's development of new surgical and rehab procedures.

It seemed that Thurlow threw more hb option passes than Berg threw from the qb position.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 10-25-2022

Thanks maple
Dr Behling was my knee Dr 1976. The injury 2 hand touch in my 30s

Answer:  Stanford (November 2012)

Oregon State (13)
Oregon (1)
UCLA (15)
UCLA (17)

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - Phogge - 10-25-2022

Maple Leaf basically has it. Thurlow, a converted QB, was at RH vs the Domers. They ran a number of HB options with Thurlow throwing short passes or keeping and sweeping around right end. Berg went on to work for the Niners for years.

RE: Sports trivia thread 2022 - BobK - 10-25-2022

Berg was involved with bring nba to Seattle and the earthquakes
