Next week is the End of Quarter Period before finals. I am sure the time could be used preparing for finals.

Stanford playing at #20 Oregon.  After three innings score is 1-1.

Announcer said prior to this game Stanford had outscored opponents in the month of March 59-0.

Kaitlyn Lim with the clutch RBI in the top of the 8th! Her third hit gives Stanford a 2-1 lead,
and then Emily Schultz with a clutch RBI down the line has the Card ahead 3-1 going to B8.

Stanford is a 3-1 winner in its Pac opener. As Brent Musberger famously said about Stanford football,
"the win streak continues!" 21 games.

Bob, is there any mention of why Canady left yesterday's game?

RE: Stanford Softball 2022-2023 - BobK - 03-19-2023

Allister has been very consistent in using all three pitchers. My guess that’s the answer

RE: Stanford Softball 2022-2023 - old spanish trail - 03-19-2023

Thanks. As good a guess as any. I think she threw less than 50 pitches. Maybe caught Brink's bug.

Stanford off to a great start in Pac play with road series win in Eugene. Next up,
a Supers re-match on the Farm against Oregon State, who are by far the worst
team in the Pac this year. A series win, if not a sweep, is a must against
the weakest Pac opponent Stanford will face this year.

I don't follow osu closely. Why are they so bad coming off a WCWS berth? Their star pitcher graduated?

The short answer is yes. But a longer answer would be bigger than OSU losing Mazon. Some of their veteran hitters have taken massive steps back, and it seems like something is off. But the pitching has been poor, the hitting has been poor, and the defense poor too.

They have just had a series of embarrassing losses this year (among the losses I could choose from: getting run-ruled by New Mexico, losing to Portland State, Weber State, Utah Tech, Idaho State, and getting run ruled at home by Cal).

Report in the LA Times yesterday on one of the signees for next season.

Quote:Huntington Beach’s Zoe Prystajko was one of the best pitchers in the Southern Section last season, the Stanford commit posting a 0.46 ERA. The cerebral senior has grown her game in a different way this year — after hitting .271 last season with three homers, she’s up to a .632 average and five homers through eight games. A shortened swing with less movement is propelling Prystajko to a tremendous start as one of the best two-way players in Orange County. “Last year, she had this stigma where she was a one-dimensional type of player. … I think that drives her,” coach Jeff Forsberg said.

Thanks Spiny

Yes, thanks for finding that Spiny.  Not your prototypical pitcher.  Left-hander, 5'10", slender build.

I’m not sure how many remembers Taryne Mowatt of Arizona. slender/petite and only 5’5” maybe 5’6”. She pitched all of Arizonas playoff games all the way to the championship game in 2007. She was incredible considering her smaller stature. I think she  threw over 1000 pitches in the WCWS.
