I think you're right, that's a solid projection..  A .780 OPS would have given him the 8th highest OPS among starting catchers in MLB last year.  Right now, technically speaking, Joey Bart is #8 among all catchers in OPS at 1.177.  But if you factor into account only catchers with more than 13 ABs, Joey is #2 behind Wilson Contreras. And we can't ignore the fact that he's struck out 13 times in 22 ABs, an astounding number.

BTW, Giants are 6-2, tied with the White Sox, Rockies, Dodgers for best record in baseball. And on pace to win 120 games... ;)

And speaking of Stanford and the Giants...Stanford's Austin Slater is just 2 for 15, but he's putting together a very nice early season.  He had the game winning double on Opening Day last week, yesterday he made a diving catch for the last out of the game, and today he went 1 for 1 with an RBI and a run scored in a 4-2 victory.

I like the tie game implicit in the 121.5 prediction.  I'll stick with my 93...curious as to whether the hitting sorts itself out.

Let's go with Lance and a trade.  How about Garoppolo, Deebo Samuel and Mike McLaughlin to the Panthers for #4 overall rated OT Taylor Moton, their #6 overall draft selection in 2022 and either DE Brian Burns, WR Rob Moore or S Jeremy Chinn.

They have to drop a pitcher and a position player when the 26 man active roster kicks in. Probably Dubon and a pitcher go which exposes Dubon to a waiver claim. Then when Longoria, Egg Shell and Wade get healthy (Longoria is never really healthy) who goes? Either Slater or Dugger, a pitcher and another position guy but somehow the Giants will get a couple more injured and dodge cutting somebody who helps. Belt is doomed to get hurt, happens every year.

Gotta be two pitchers to comply with the new rules.  Max of 13 hurlers per team as of 5-2.

Beede and Long most likely the two.  Beede has no options so he’d be DFA’d. Someone will probably take a shot on that arm. Brebbia has options.  But he’s throwing very well.  Hopefully no one actually gets hurt. But phantom injuries do happen sometimes…..

That sounds right to me, though Beede has a 2.25 ERA and Long is 0.00.  They're not going to lose the two worst ERA pitchers, DeSclafani (4.32) or Doval (5.06).  And Beede's WHIP is second worst on the staff at 1.50, though opponents are only batting .154 against him.

BTW, top two teams in MLB are the Giants and Dodgers, both 7-2 and on a pace to win 126 games... ;)

They are going to!  Rotation stacks up normally until Saturday. At that point they will need to either have a bullpen game or call up someone from Sac to start. I suspect it will depend in large part on how much the pen is used in the 5 games between Tuesday and Friday.  Perhaps Hjelle makes his debut Sat.

I think Beede might get a final chance to show whether SF should keep him or let him go on May 2 (he is certain to be picked up by another club if he is waived).  

Vosler has been brought up to function as the extra player for the doubleheader tomorrow.
