The Alabama coach seemed like such a solid, stand-up guy in the post game interview.  I've become a fan of his.

Where is section 3 at the Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium?  I can't find a seating chart and a friend just gave me 2 tickets to Friday's game.

Thanks!

It's behind home plate or where you and I sat last time we saw each other :)

RE: Stanford Softball - fullmetal - 05-26-2022

Three frosh starters, the #2 pitcher (junior), and two other juniors?  Are they fleeing a sinking ship, or is Alabama just a stepping stone program in softball?  Feels like a good chunk of next year's talent just peaced out.

Stanford's season and upset of Alabama was discussed in pretty significant detail on this week's
In the Circle podcast. Jenna Becerra provided some great analysis as always of our season so far.

Vawter getting beat up early by Oregon State batters.  Plenty of time to come back.

Is anyone going to start a thread about this super regional match?

Pretty crazy play with a fake throw catching an OSU runner off third earlier.

Still down 3-1 through six; we will need a bottom-of-the-seventh comeback.

No comeback tonight.

Need more runs tomorrow to keep alive.

RE: Stanford Softball - BobK - 05-27-2022

Sell out crowd sitting with friends good weather but we didn’t score. One pitch away from an 8th inning. Worst home plate ump since Eric Gregg.

But another chance tomorrow

RE: Stanford Softball - BostonCard - 05-28-2022

Ruh roh.  Osu strikes first.

After four innings Stanford down 0-2.

RE: Stanford Softball - mbdude - 05-28-2022

Stanford has been taking some wimpy swings

RE: Stanford Softball - Softball Fan - 05-28-2022

Stanford's softball season is over.  OSU has one junior and one senior on its roster.

RE: Stanford Softball - BobK - 05-28-2022

Our top three Srs all starters are coming back. Well we played Oregon State 5 times and scored a total of 2 runs.
Recruiting is great hopefully at least 2 are great hitters immediately.
Bases loaded 1 out couldn’t score
Still awesome season.

RE: Stanford Softball - old spanish trail - 05-28-2022

Thanks dor the report , Bob. They need more hitters. Can the terrific frosh pitching recruit hit also? Her athletic versatility would suggest yes. Their move up the rankings has been really impressive.

Little interest on Cardboard for a Stanford sport making a big improvement with a bright future.

Stanford arguably had the easiest path to the World Series but the bats didn't come through when needed.  In the regional Stanford played a team that went into a slump the end of the season.  Plus their top pitcher seemed to be off her A game for most of the series.

Stanford was in one of two super regionals having no seeded team.  OSU is very talented and got hot at the right time of the season.  Best of luck to them.

If ASU can win their game 3 against Northwestern later today, four of the eight CWS participants will be from the Pac-12. The Sun Devils forced an elimination game by winning last night in extra innings.

I don't follow softball or baseball very much, but watched some of this.  It is amazing to me to see how well our softball team did this year considering how low they fell but a few years ago.  It is encouraging to see a program become so competitive in a relatively short period of time.

Softball and baseball can be like that.  There is no hotter team in baseball than Stanford right now, and yet, we could easily lose in the regional.  You just have to get hot at the right time.  Real bummer we didn’t make it; just have to hope for a little more offense next year to break through.
